Jazz Hot Baby

The Jazz Ambassadors of the US Army Field Band with Marvin Hamlisch and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra
Now, I ask you...how could anyone stay feelin' down after a night like this! WOW! This was one of the most enjoyable evenings I have had, music wise, for a long time! Amazing!
I love jazz & swing, particularly the music of Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald,
Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong...well, they were all featured tonight!
So, for 2 hours this evening, Mom, Grace and I had a white hot time at The Schuster Center.
Marvin Hamlisch is such a legend in his own right and wow. Tonight he, the Army's jazz band and the Dayton Philharmonic kicked some serious behind.
Is there any musical piece more dynamite than Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing"? Wow. These people did it right on. Close your eyes and you were at Carnegie Hall in 1938, watching Gene Krupa tear up the drums...oh wow.
Red hot swinging jazz...can you tell I had a great time?
This Jazz Band is HOT! If you ever have the chance to see them perform, run, do not walk, to get tickets. You will not be sorry. Wow.
Mr. Hamlisch was really funny, the music was fantastic and oh wow. Let's see, how many times can Sue write the word, wow, in one post?
One thing was missing...Bill would have LOVED this! I will tell him all about it tomorrow morning but I so wished he could have been home to attend. I thought of him all through the performance but you know, it is impossible to be really down when you know that music like this lives on. Classic songs that are a part of our American musical landscape.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Suzie Q

I think I want to move to Dayton and attend all these nifty events with you!!! I too adore jazz and swing. Sounds like such a great evening. My hubby loves jazz as well. Back before hurricane Katrina we paid New Orleans a visit. We spent 2 nights at Preservation Hall listening to the old timers play jazz and absolutely loved it. One of the nights the place was so packed we didn't even get to sit together. I was practically sitting with the band and hubby sat on the wood floor...but the music was so worth it! I still dig out that CD to play on a regular basis.
