The Old Gray Susie Ain't What She Used To Be...

Hmm...let's see...someone has a birthday today. Who is it...hmmm...
Oh yeah, old Susie Q is turning another year older.
Let's see here...add 5, carry the 2...yup. Here it is. The old girl is 54 today!

I just can't help but laugh...here I am remembering HER birthday but
did SHE remember mine? July 9th went by without one word about it on her blog. Not. One. Word!

But heck. I have a big heart. I'm a big guy! So let's just forget about my
self proclaimed "world's greatest fan"'s indiscretion and move on...

I will now read a poem I  wrote for the old girl.
Ahem...
Today dear old Susie turns 54
The years pile up, she's turned into a bore.
Her hair's gettin' grayer, the age lines are deep
The hot flashes make her lose lots of sleep.
Her joints are a creakin', her back's pretty bad
She still thinks she's young, now ain't that real sad?

Not that I am holding a grudge or anything...

A Pioneer Fall

Another place we love to visit during Autumn in Ohio is the Pioneer Village at Caesar Creek.
We stopped by on the day of the Harvest Festival and as we walked around, oh!  The smell of pumpkin bread baking and corn roasting met us at every turn! I wanted to share a few photos with you of that sweet afternoon...

I hope your Fall season is giving you many reasons to pause,
smile and just be thankful to be alive!

Love to you all.

Falling Into Woodland

A dear friend recently called and asked a few of us to take a tour of Woodland Cemetery with her. It was absolutely the perfect Autumn day! The skies were so blue, the air cool and crisp, the trees glowing in all their Fall splendor.
Woodland is on of Dayton's treasures. Truly a place of beauty, it is also rich in history.
Of course, it is a quiet place of eternal rest for so many as well.
Among those buried here are the poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, inventors Orville and Wilbur Wright, comedian and actor Jonathan Winters and writer and humorist Erma Bombeck.

Thank you for sharing this tour with me...it is such a special place
and it is never more beautiful than in the Autumn.

Love to you all!

Country Living...

At the Fair that is...the annual Country Living Magazine Fair in Columbus, Ohio. My friend Janet flew in for the weekend and my friend Sue joined us for a day in the *Country*!

As always, just click on the photos to enlarge them!

So many goodies to choose from! Where does a girl start?

The next day we took Janet to Waynesville to walk around and do a little shopping!
It's always fun.

It was wonderful having Janet here! It was our first face to face meeting and we both felt so comfortable with one another. She is a delight and a joy to be with! I totally look forward to us getting together again soon!

Sue and I also met through blogging but found we live close to each other! We have been able to do all sorts of fun things over the last 2 years and I feel so blessed by these friendships. As I always say, if you ever have the chance to meet blog friends, DO it! You will be so happy you did!

Boy am I glad to finally be able to post this! Blogger has been throwing a temper tantrum with me lately and not cooperating at all! Finally, tonight, it allowed me to post! A month late but it is finally up! Hooray!

I hope all of you are well, enjoying this sweet month and this glorious season!

Love to you all.
