Thank You

I wanted to say thank you to all of my special blogging friends. Your support and sweet words have helped to lighten my heart. I wish there was a way I could truly express how I feel about you all but please know that I am more grateful to you all than I can express with mere words. My sister in law had a list of people and services to call today and there are so many wonderful ways to help Boo and I do have such hope in my heart. He is a precious boy, sweet, funny, loving and playful. I have a deep belief that he will do well and be able to find his own place in the world. In just 48 hours I have read so much and talked to so many people....there is so much support out there for my nephew and his parents. The journey down this road is just beginning and yes, there will be detours and the inevitable pot hole (silly analogy maybe but Boo does so love his cars and trucks!) but I believe that he will reach his intended destination with his strong spirit and dedicated help and unconditional love. We all have our share of pain and dark days unfortunately and I thank you for helping me through one of mine. I suppose we need the dark days so we recognize the ones that fill us with delight. I do know that God loves Boo and will help him and his parents through their challenges. I wish I could give you all a hug...and to show you how much your kind and gentle words meant to me when I was hurting so. You are an amazing group of women and I feel blessed to *know* you all. I so hope I can meet many of you someday.... I will get back to visiting all of you in the next few days. I have so much to catch up on I know! I hope you are all well....enjoy your Friday and weekend. Do something good for yourself. You are SO important.
Warm Hugs and Love, Sue

the other thing i thought of was something Dale Evans said about one of her children that was born with Downs Syndrome: "i had no idea that i was given an angel to care for in the form of a special needs child."

and yes, i paraphrased somewhat. but you get what i mean.

You know we're here for you whenever you need us as we know you're there for us:-) I realize that a lot of adjustments will have to be made with Boo but with the love and support from his family, he'll be just fine. I'm going away to Niagara Falls tomorrow until Monday so I'll "see" you when I get back:-) Love ya! xoxo

Sue...you have the sweetest, kindest, love filled heart. I do know what you're feeling . My 6 year old nephew Kaden was diagnosed with Autism and mild retardation as well. My sister works so hard with him and there are so many programs out there to help him. I would advise them to take full advantage of help that's out there. It's helped Kaden make great strides. Lots of parents don't want to admit their child has problem, so never get them the help needed. Just be there for them like i know you are. (((big hugs and lots of love)))

I was just now catching up with your posts tonight...(I've only visited a couple times before)but I wanted to say that I can only imagine how hard the diagnosis was to hear for you- and for his parents. But God has His hand on him...
I read that book by Dale Evans that the first commenter, Valerie, mentioned...so wonderful!
God bless!

I just finished reading your post about your nephew Boo. My heart aches for all of you. Although my grandson (10) does not have Autism, he suffers from emotional problems which have been with him since he was 3 years old. He is in special ed today due to his problems. I love him dearly.

It is true that much is being learned about autism. The pressure is on to learn about it, because it is practically an epidemic. Roughly 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with it today whereas it was 1 in 10,000 in the 1980's. I am very concerned that these high numbers are due to something in our environment such as mercury in vaccines. This is very controversial though. I recommend that your brother and sister-in-law read the book Evidence of Harm by David Kirby. It was published in 2005. The author addresses this controversy in his book.

Boo is very fortunate to have such a loving family to be there to support him and love him. And you, Susie, are one of the sweetest souls. What a wonderful aunt you are to Boo. Your sweetness comes out in all that your write at your blog.

I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. May God be with you. May his peace pour over you daily and wash away the pain.

With love from the other Susie Q
