Can You Say "Father Of The Bride"?

The actual house used in Father of the Bride
Photo from: Hooked On Houses Oh yes, I KNEW you could! I am being a bit of a copy cat today and posting a little like my beloved blog, Hooked On Houses. It is here that one dynamo of a lady named Julia shows us all manner of glorious spaces each day. Recently, she showed us a house that was very like the stunning home featured in the films, Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II. Oh how I adore that home...inside and outside, it is a pure gem. A dream. A Hollywood fantasy. Well, today I saw that fantasy in the flesh, well, the plaster and paint so to speak. Ahem...just G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. French and English country and oh so, oh so, me. Don'tcha thunk? Now, don't you think Bill should be a good boy and buy this little cottage for moi? Yes, I KNEW you would!

Uh huh, and, for a few dollars more, would I like the furnishings and bric a brac thrown in too? Why YES thank you!
I mean, we all know that Billy boy needs to do SOMETHING to repay me for his little faux pas recently. Right? Oh Billy.....now where IS that man. Grace? Look under the bed. Dan? Check the basement storage closet. Kipper? How about the attic crawl space...he has to be somewhere around here...
I hope your weekend is a sweet one. The weather here is beautiful and we have already been out and about. In for a bit and then, this evening, we are meeting up with some friends for dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. This family was stationed with us in upstate New York and it has been far too long since we last saw them!
Take care and stay well...be good to yourselves and smile!
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

Hey, Sue, thanks for the shout-out! Aren't you sweet?

I love this house! I'm so glad you found it. I think the exterior is even prettier than the original Father of the Bride house, and that's saying something.

Love that brick walk!

When Bill buys it for you, promise you'll invite me over for a tour. Of course, be prepared for me to never leave again...

I'm so glad you pointed me to those houses in that area because I found all sorts of gorgeous older homes on that Realtor's website--tho. this was my favorite.

Hope you're having a great weekend!! -Julia :-)

Oh my, that home is beautiful. And homey too. I like the fact it doesn't look like a museum, it looks like someone could actually be at home. That's refreshing!! I think I could give my right arm for that kitchen!!

Gretchen said...

Wow! I lurrrve that home and both of those movies, too, BTW.

Actually, $800,000 isn't terrible for the house. Of course, I couldn't afford that, but still, it's not as high as I thought it might be. However, spend another $200,000 on the furnishings and there you have it...

Ooooh, yeeeesssssss, I'll definitely take it.......right after I scrape Love Bunny up off the floor! He fainted when I told him "th' price"!!
Beautiful, but just a TAD outta our price range.......

LOVE that house, Susie!! And yes, I do think your husband should run out and buy you that pretty little cottage - a nice place to spend your summer holidays, don't you think? :)

xo Kate

P.S. Although we didn't get close enough for an autograph from you-know-who (even though we thought we spotted him in a restaurant, our eyes deceived us) I did blow him a kiss during the performance, in your honour!

Oh I do hope Pat from Back Porch Musings sees this post. I'm sure she'd love this beauty too. Such a pretty place. I do believe it's the "least" Bill should do for you considering his not so little faux pas!!! Once you get settled....I'm coming for a visit!!!

Have a wonderful time with your friends Dear Sue.

Hi Miss Susie Q!

Andi gave me a heads up to come on over and have a look. You know I'm going to enjoy this post. I'll be back in a bit for the tour!! I know it's lovely!

I, too, love this house. But, since I'm striving to be better at "not having what I want, but wanting what I have"; I guess I'll stay right here in my humble abode. Thanks for the fun fantasy tour though. Sally

I think buying the house for you is the LEAST Bill can do for his recent faux pas. So what if it puts you in the poorhouse FOREVER! OK, now let's get back to reality.....

What an incredible house! Let me know when you move in! Road trip!

And thanks so much Sue, for your great ideas for Miss Sarah! I'm going to find some cards for Sarah today, and I'll add the postage too. That's a fantastic idea! And the plant and pet. I had two goldfish in college myself--Goldie and Hawn. Poor things--I wasn't the best with cleaning the tank. But they didn't seem to mind. Not that they could complain. :)
Give yourself a big hug for me!

Hi sweet friend

I must apologize. I've been a bad blog friend lately. My days just have flown by and I can't seem to keep all the "balls in the air". But I'm trying. That's what counts, right?

I've just spent some time reading all your posts I've missed and had fun. You've been busy too.

Hugs!

That will be the perfect pplace for a Bloggin" Babe Blowout. That right there is reason enough for Bill to buy it and if he won;t I would contact a certain B.D. who would certainly find the price reasonable for his biggest fan!

My favorite movie house is the one in Home Alone. But can you imagine heating those places? (I know...tell 'em 'throw in a winter's worth of fuel and it's a deal!')

Ah yes, Susie, I think this is the perfect payback and when you are all settled in, give me jingle, we'll be right there! I want the room with the four poster...there was a four poster wasn't there?

I have to get out of NYC! I actually thought the price for this house was a steal -- lol! A house like that that here would be in the millions with a very plural "s" Beautiful place and lucky the person that buys it!
