Oh Really?
That was was my response when someone recently told me that this area had *nothing* to see and *nothing* of any beauty. I beg to differ....to prove that, I decided to post a few photos of area sights, things that make me smile. Things that are truly *something* to see! Of course there are so many more but these few will give just a taste...
Bell Tower at Carillon ParkSculpture of the Wright Brother's plane, a local church, a local barn and
a downtown sculpture called, "Flyover", a tribute to the Wrights.
Well there certainly is a lot to see! I hate when people say that about where I live too. I feel like telling them to move if they are unhappy! Wait a minute - I do tell them that! Thanks so much for the anniversary post. It means a lot! Karla
I love Ohio! I once told my husband if I was going to live somewhere other than Florida it would be Ohio!
I have to admit that I haven't been to the Dayton area. My visits have included Longaberger and Holmes County where the Amish are. I did have a good friend that I graduated from High School with that moved to Dayton for a while. She actually worked for Rikes Department Store in downtown Dayton. This would have been in the late 60's. She was dating the guy my oldest brother Todd served in Viet Nam with. I sure wish I could remember his name. He drove a Corvette then...that's all I remember. He would probably be around 58 to 60 years old now. I keep thinking it was Chuck...but it's not coming back to me.
I've been through your area and it was beautiful. I remember there being a lot to see. We camped there a couple of nights. I'm from the Smoky Mountain area and there is lots to see here. If you have never been here you should come for a visit.
Very pretty area of the world!! I've never been to Ohio. I'd like to see Lake Erie (north east Ohio??). That lake and Ontario are the only ones of the Great Lakes I haven't seen.
Mr J is home...he was dismissed yesterday, but didn't come home until today. Stayed at the room I booked. He's fine, with pain meds!:-)
Thank you for the tour. You seem to have lots to see and do where you live and the photos are great. It amazes me that people travel around the world and yet don't know what they have in their own area. I am guilty of this to a point, as I have seen more of the USA than I have of Canada. Something I hope to put right very soon. hugs xx
I loved your pictures of Dayton. I was born in Piqua, a little north of Dayton. Moved away when I was a baby, but my older sister (from my dad's previous marriage) grew up in Piqua, and last year she took me back there for a visit. Loved the area. We (husband, daughters and I) lived in Northern Kentucky, just over the river from Cincinnati, for a few years and I loved the whole area.
