Last night, my husband Bill, was the call in contestant on National Public Radio's weekly show,
Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!
Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is NPR's weekly hour-long quiz program. Each week on the radio you can test your knowledge against some of the best and brightest in the news and entertainment world while figuring out what's real news and what's made up. As they say, it takes more than a few brain cells to make this show what it is!
A little show information from the official site:
Peter Sagal -- Host
Prior to becoming host of Wait Wait in 1998, Peter had a varied career including stints as a playwright, screenwriter, stage director, actor, extra in a Michael Jackson video, travel writer, essayist, ghostwriter and staff writer for a motorcycle magazine. He lives in the Chicago area with his family, and is working on a book titled The Big Book of Vices, about how people -- other people, of course -- misbehave.
Carl Kasell -- Official Judge and Scorekeeper
Carl Kasell is an all-around genius and great guy. He has also been a newscaster for NPR's daily news magazine Morning Edition since its inception in 1979. His newscasts on Morning Edition can be heard at the top of the hour, every weekday morning on public radio stations nationwide. A veteran broadcaster, Kasell launched his radio career more than 50 years ago. He sometimes moonlights as a magician.
Bill's partners and helpmates on the show were:
Humorist and author Roy Blount Jr.
Humorist and author Tom Bodett
Humorist and stand-up comedian Paula Poundstone
Stand Up Comedian Paul Provenza
He won! He won! He won!
Bill's Grand Prize!
When you're not there to answer your phone, treat your friends, bill collectors and telemarketers to the dulcet tones of radio personality and the Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! Official Judge and Scorekeeper, Carl Kasell! There's only one way, aside from being related to Carl, to have his voice on your answering machine, though. You have to submit to the rigorous weekly gauntlet that is the Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! News Quiz, and win!
The show was recorded last night between 8pm and 10pm and will be aired on Sunday evening. In the Dayton area, it can be found on station WYSO Public Radio 91.3
Bill says "I sucked" but hey, he won. Oh, and he had fun. That's my fella....

You're too kind! Cuz, I did suck!!
But, with Carl greeting all our phone callers, it'll put salve on those wounds!
Love,
Me
Eh. No one knows more about current affairs than you do. If you DID suck, we will blame nerves, global warming or tendonitis. You still won Carl's voice though. You are a winnah!
Love,
Your Wife
