Fields full of pumpkins and visits to farms,
nursery Edens and old wooden barns.
Sweet caramel treats and llamas to pet,
trains to conduct and whistles to wet...
at favorite restaurants where good food and grins,
were enjoyed by family and several dear friends.
Lumpy, bumpy gourds and friendly witches, skies a brilliant blue,
lovely pots all in a row, sweet cement rabbits too.
Church Sunday morning to lift up our hearts,
a street fair where craftspeople showcased their art.
A drive around town to view lovely places, then
out to the country to embrace open spaces.
Woolly sheep here and there and a sunset like fire,
in the sky set my spirit to soar ever higher.
We embraced every second of each precious day and
opened ourselves up to the joy of play!

Bad Poetry, Fall Fun And Embracing Life
When you finally get one of those longed for "Perfect Autumn" weekends you make the most of it...so that is just what our family did!
Yeah, I know...a poet I am not and I broke ever cardinal rule there IS in poetry! Still, it was a wonderful weekend! We had dinner with family and friends on both days, enjoyed the farms and country drives, being together as a family and reveling in the cooler air.
The weather was glorious, the skies were so blue! Grace and my nephew Boo had the best time. And yes, we adults in the group had a great time too!
I want to thank dear Tammy for the precious Christmas Spirit award. It surely did bring a smile to my face and humble my heart. And Kari? I hope you know your cousin Joey is in all our prayers...
Please visit Kari and share a word or prayer with her for her beloved cousin. He was in an awful work related accident last week. He is, thanks to prayer and positive thinking...and a fantastic team of doctors...improving bit by bit.
This event truly does serve to remind each of us to live life to the fullest. Embrace every second...

Oh, and I enjoyed your poem as well. You did a great job writing it!
For some reason I'm reminded of the saying "I'm a poet and don't know it...but my feet show it... They're Longfellows"!!! hee hee
Great poem Sue!!!

Loved your poem and all the Autumn photos. The motto on the garden stone, May all your weeds be wildflowers, made me smile.
Susie,,,,,,,,,thanks so much for the autum walk we all got to take with you and your family. That is what is so much fun about our little blogging world.......we all get to share with others what we see in our littlew corner of the world.......It was so much fun spending the day with you.

What rules? What Cardinal? I saw no father there with a red hat...oh, I did see a scarcrow with a red though, is he the Cardinal? Frankly I loved your poetry...and your pictures...now, gotta hop on over to my own blog, hope to see you there!

Loved it all...
Cassie

As for the pictures, each one was a delight and I would pick a favorite till I would view the next one...they are all just soooo good!

Sue: Great photos! Thanks for my own fall festival in the comfort of my own home.
Wow-this post was an inspiration from start to finish!!! Your photos and poems are just divine!!! You could make a book of all your lovely photos!!xxx
What a post! Loved all the pictures...'cept maybe that one with the scarecrow wearing some funky shirt that said something about "Ohio State". Weird clothes, that's for sure. lol (Just kidding - I'm an Oklahoma Sooner - can't help being a smart mouth about college football! ha).
Thanks for mentioning Joey in your post. All these prayers and good thoughts mean so much. I know that Karen appreciates them NOW and Joey will appreciate them LATER, when he's able to read them and see them for himself. I'll be calling Karen here in and hour or so for a new update. I actually kind of "dread" these daily calls until I hear the tone of the voice at the other end and can tell how he's doing. Crazy, huh? But he's improving little by little and that in itself is a miracle. Thanks again for mentioning him in your post and for leaving comments directly on Joey's website. You're such a good friend!
Gorgeous photos! Thanks for hopping by my blog.....so, that I could find yours! You will definitely on my personal list of blogging favorites. Can't wait to browse some more.....Rosie
Okay, my comment disappeared. Here goes again...
...of all the activities you can do all year round, nothing beats a visit to a great farmstand!
BTW, I want an alpaca!
Your poem is lovely and you didn't break any rules - it is free verse! Photos are beautiful as always. How to you get your signature on your posts?
Big hugs,
Karla

Your pictures are so wonderful Susie. You have a gift when you look through the lens of your camera sweet friend.
Miss Sue...you take THE best pictures! My goodness, I wish I could get my camera to see what you see. Beautiful work!!!
I guess the first step would be for me to get past how people look at me when I break out the camera...you know, in places that people don't normally take pictures :-D.
Thanks so much for sharing. You're an inspiration.

Dear Sue,
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
your blog is wonderful
and so are you!
You've probably gotten tons of awards, but I had to add another from me! Please stop by and pick it up if you get the chance.
xoxo,
Mary
I just feel like I've taken a lovely drive through the Fall countryside. As always, thanks for the lovely experience!
Great pictures Sue! I love Autumn and your pictures captured it beautifully.
What a fun time this looks like for you family! Wow, so many pictures...and they're wonderful, too!
Your poem was so creative, Susie! :)
Love the poem:) thanks for sharing all the beautiful pics!
What a beautiful fall picture album! I especially love the pansies. I plant them most every year unless I do snapdragons or both. The deer seem to enjoy eating my pansies!
All of your pictures are just beautiful, Sue! Don't you just love the fall? I can't wait until we go to a pumpkin farm; we're hoping to go this coming weekend. I need a good old-fashioned hayride!
What incredibly wonderful photographs, and what a beautiful daughter. Are you by any chance, the same Susie Q who had a recipe list for a long time? I think that woman lived in Florida, but that was on the list of the places you've lived, so I just wondered....
