A Touch Here, A Tweak There...

...and Autumn arrives at Rabbit Run Cottage. I will have pictures of the porch up later this week but, for now, I wanted to share a few of the little touches Grace and I added to the house this week. Gee but I LOVE Fall! Have I said that enough of late? Most of my decorations have been collected over many years, but some are new treasures from very talented blogging friends!
Let's begin in the kitchen...
This is my pumpkin tureen with the sweetest ladle. I got this at a Lillian Vernon outlet in Virginia years ago.

My bucket bench filled with seasonal plates, a charming pig and the dearest Autumn nesting bird under glass! The little crow came from the amazing hands of Kathy, whose hearts and birds have become something of an obsession for me! They are just exquisitely made. She is a special lady with a huge heart and upbeat outlook at life.

One of my favorite objects in my entire house...Penny's beautiful mirror. Isn't it amazing?
Isn't SHE amazing? Not only artistically gifted but she has a heart of gold too. A zest for life, home, friends and family, plus
devotion to her craft are just some of her many charms. She is a blessing.
The little cottage was an end of Summer clearance find from Target.
Our talented, charming and lovely friend Pat,
has a collection of the prettiest tableware. Last year, after seeing her post on Fall tables, I fell in love with her Spode plates that featured dogs. I saved my pennies and, this year, I got 8 of the salad plates to add to our Friendly Village.
I hope Pat won't mind me using her as my inspiration! She IS such a joy to know!

Place mats are from April Cornell. The pumpkin soup tureens came from a Linens and Things close out sale last year.

I have had these White Rock Studio pumpkins for years. They are still big favorites in our home.

Becky, whose creativity knows no bounds, made this Happy Halloween banner.

Isn't it sweet and fun? Such a dear lady and a most talented seamstress. Her work is perfection.

I am a big fan! Her eye for spotting treasures and creating a beautiful home, as well as her gift for creating beauty are 3 of her many attributes. She is always a delight!

This is Mlle. Madeline. She gets all spiffy for each holiday...
The mantle features some of our brown transferware and Autumn treasures old and new. So many of the cutest ones came from our Cassie. I was lucky enough to win her Halloween giveaway last year! Unpacking the box was a delight. Why, even the box was a work of art! Her joy for life is infectious! She is a wonder! I also want you to see the precious crown on the Staffordshire doggie's head. It is a treasure from our creative Rosemary. She makes the most magical things and her home is a Halloween haven if their ever was one. A beautiful woman, a pleasure to know. This sweet crown is usually on the head of one "Hermione Rabbit" but Grace decided this little doggie needed to borrow it for Halloween. Just a quick tour of our cottage as it welcomes this special season. October is my favorite month of the year! I hope you all can find sweet things to smile about this time of year. I wish each one of you a week filled with happiness.
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

I think your house is wonderful! I believe I could move right in and not change a thing! (We have similar tastes!)

LOVE the dishes, too. Those I don't have anymore...too many broken during the moves, so I just stick to Blue Willow. But, you never know....Once a dish addict always a dish addict! LOL

I am in awe. Your house is absolutely gorgeous. And the fall decorations are the icing on the cake. My house is a small 1960's ranch and we don't have much room for decorations. So I thoroughly enjoy everyone elses. And I decorate the yard.

I love those dog plates...which is saying alot for me because I'm not a plate lover...but those just draw me in.

Okay, I'm officially out of my league--can I say I knew you when?! Seriously, Sue, your house is so breathtaking, yet homey at the same time. I feel like I could come and ENJOY a visit to the nth degree. What warmth and personality you exude through your home. I truly wish I could see it someday.

And selfishly, I wish you'd just fly out to Seattle quarterly and do up my house. :)

And I'm just catching up a bit...I just now read the anniversary post for your parents...so beautiful!
I did something similar last year for what would have been my parents' 50th...
Your parents were truly a handsome couple, that's for sure! I loved reading your tribute!

(Now, come over and enter my little giveaway...nothing big, but yet hopefully fun anyway!)

Unbelievable! I feel completely fallish just looking at your gorgeous home! We have many of the same style connections, so it's like stepping into a dream spot for me. (And, I might add, we have the same books on our book cases! Have you read Tina Brown's Diana Chronicles -- I think it was the best of the lot! I'm a serious Anglophile!)

Oh, Sue, this is autumn at its best. Thank you!
