...on Spring Break! Uh huh. Wild. Crazy. Unfettered. Silly even. Singing show tunes and spending all that birthday loot my girl had saved. First stop, Grace's choice for lunch, The Cheesecake Factory.
There's our smiling girl!
Could this be why she was so happy? And this was the smaller lunch portion! This kid loves pasta, the spicier the better!
Then it was off to Sephora for a little makeover. Now, before anyone pops in to tell me that she is too young to wear cosmetics, let me say this. No wearing anything to school is Mom and Dad's rule. And the beauty experts at Sephora chose only a slightly pink tinged moisturizer (SPF 30!)
and some pretty pink lip gloss. We also picked up some pale pink eye shadow that they showed her how to use as a very light blusher. These are only to be used for special occasions like the weddings we are attending this Summer. But oh how she loved it and I think she truly felt pretty. It has been a difficult road for her, self image wise. If doing something like this helps our girl feel good about herself, than it is a very small price to pay.
That is "Justice" just over her right shoulder, with the blue awnings. This kid loves that store more than I can say. They all know her in there and she is nothing short than a walking, talking advertisement for them. She saves her money from holidays and birthdays and chores and then is allowed to use some for clothes. Oh but she loves clothes. Today's shopping adventure included picking up this year's bathing suit. Summer will be here before we know it!
Now, the BIG event. Grace got her hair cut! We went to see our wonderful hair dresser, Julie, at Utopia Salon and snip, snip, snip. 10 inches were gone just like that! Grace has been growing out her hair for almost 2 years so she could donate it to a very worthy cause.
Here is the proof! Off to "Locks of Love" go Grace's pretty tresses and they go with our prayers and love for the recipient.
The new look...our beautiful girl. Can you imagine how proud we are of her?

Oh what a fun day! Yum...Cheesecake Factory! Grace is adorable and how special is she for wanting to give the gift of her hair! I have a friend that did the same thing. It's a wonderful organization. You should be so proud of your beautiful girl and I KNOW you ARE.
Hugs!

Well...Grace is just about the most lovely girl she can be...and her heart is just as lovely, too. Unselfishly giving her hair to a wonderful organizaiong. I have always wanted to do this every since I heard about it...tell, Grace...she may have just tempted this ole gal into going "hippie" locks for a while till I have about 10 inches to spair...they DO NEED salt and pepper hair...don't they??...I mean it will be colored...but who knows what they might uncover in the process.
I couldn't imagine Grace being any pretty than she was...but I do believe her new "do" has given her a bit more sophisticated look...she really does look beautiful...and I know you are so proud of her!!
Way to go...Grace...save money for what you REALLY want...and give to others what they really need...how unselfish!
blessings...
Teresa
Hi Sue,
Looks like you girls had a really fun day! Grace is so beautiful inside and out! Growing her hair for Locks of Love shows what a special girl she is. I know you are proud of her. I love her new look too!
Justice is my granddaughter's favorite store too! She loves to be stylin' one day and back to being a tomboy the next! :O)
Hugs and Blessings,
Hope
Hi Susie! I see you have just added some fun things to click on and play along with. I can't wait! Except I want some sleep tonight so I will wait until tomorrow ... ha. I will do them then. In the meanwhile, however, please pass this along to Gracie:
Gracie, you have a heart of gold giving all of that hair away and I LOVE your new hair cut! Very stylish. Very nice.
p.s. I think you are pretty and I like the way you dress.
I wish I had as much fashion sense as you have and I wish my hair was as shiny and wonderful as yours is too.

Beautiful daughter and a wonderful day! Isn't having a dughter the most fun!? I have two and we have spent many days shopping and having fun together. What a sweet gift she gave when she got her hair cut for Locks of love too, and she looks beautiful with her new hairstyle:>)
Sue, Grace is beautiful. All girls like days like this, lunch, a make up lesson, a new hairdo, shopping for clothes. This little gal has her priorities right. Donating to locks of love is a wonderful thing. Well done Grace, you look gorgeous..!
hugs
xx
I always love seeing Grace's fashion style. She is just so cool. I see nothing wrong at all with her wearing a bit of makeup. And it was a good idea to have a professional show her how to apply it. It is very sweet of her to donate her hair. I'm sure some child going through chemotherapy will appreciate it very much.
Oh, her hair cut is just adorable. I LOVE it!!!
And Cheesecake Factory..and Sephora...and Justice....my Delaney would have quite a day with Grace (some of her favorite places). I think your opinion on makeup is perfect. Girls wanna be girls and this is totally appropriate.
Thanks for the HAPPY post!!
Such a wonderful gift she is giving, of growing and donating her hair. Such maturity, for one so young. She's a sweety.
And I can't imagine her having difficulty with self-image but... no one knows inside another. But her Mama of course. And you must be about the most marvelous Mama any little girl could have. :-)))))
Hugs to both of you,
Mari-Nanci
Way to go Grace! Wow her hair was long - her new cut is still pretty long! I'm thinking I need to go buy some pink tinted moisturizer and lip gloss - she is glowing! She is a beautiful girl who radiates such joy and warmth in each photo.

Oh, boy! That looks like just an amazing time! :) What a gorgeous young lady Grace is! Kudos to her, for donating to Locks of Love. My hair grows so slowly & I am so unwilling to part with it!
Grace is such a lucky girl to have such a fun mom! We have been thinking of donating our Grace's hair to Locks of Love also...it's way past her bottom now. Sue...I made my blog private and don't have your email. Please email me at c.nissen@adelphia.net if you would like to be added on...
Talk about a great girls' day! :D
And what a blessing to give her hair to locks of Love! She looks beautiful with long or short hair...such a radiant smile! :)
Grace is so cute! What a sweet haircut and nice to give her locks away!
Oh, what fun you gals had! Looks like a perfect mama-daughter day! Sounds like you two are really enjoying spring break! I never heard of the store "Justice". I guess we don't have one close by us. Sounds interesting! Even if we did though, Lisa wouldn't be interested. She's really not into clothes at ALL!
Grace looks SO PRETTY after her makeover! Tell her that her hair looks simply gorgeous with the new cut, and she did a wonderful thing by donating it to Locks of Love. What a sweet girl she is!
What a sweet and pretty young lady you have, Sue -- truly a daughter to cherish and be proud of! She is beautiful, inside and out. :)

Love It
Way to go
Love,
Terri
I'm glad you girls had a good time - and Sephora! I haven't been there in ages - I'm so jealous!
I haven't been to Justice either. There's one in our closest mall, but it's next to the Children's Place and I just end up going in there!
Grace, you are as lovely as your name. I am not exaggerating when I say that it brought tears to my eyes...heck, I'm still weepy...that you donated your lovely locks so another beautiful little girl could be even more gorgeous...you look so pretty...your eyes are so bright and your smile so warm. Keep sweet, give your mom a hug for me, will you? She's done an excellent job bringing up such a thougtful young lady.
hugs

What a wonderful gift she has given! I am proud of her too:)
I think the makeup is fine..she is very mature for her age. Although she doesn't need it..she has such natural beauty:)
Glad you all had such a fun filled day. have got to get to the Cheesecake Factory here..I have never been!
Grace is just too pretty and too sweet for giving her locks away for others...
and that after-haircut photo...well, Miss Grace looks so polished and happy...
Good job, ya'll :)
WOW what a day!!
Her hair looks great, Emily did that too years ago.
Looks like you two had a fabulous time! Nothing better than a day of shopping and pampering. Grace is so pretty and sweet, and how nice of her to donate her hair for Locks of Love. I know you are very proud of her!
Hugs to you both!
Donna
Sue,
You are lucky to have her for a daughter and she is lucky to have you for a Mom! "Nuff said:)
Janet
Oh I love the Cheesecake Factory's Pasta too! We almost went there last night for dinner but ended up at Chili's instead. I love Grace's new haircut...what a nice thing for her to do!
Grace honey, you are a beautiful girl with a beautiful heart. Be proud of the way you look and don't let anyone ever make you think differently. What you did was a wonderful thing and I'm very proud of you. Tell your mom to give you a big hug from me :)
Rue
she is gorgous!
(and i have no problem with Sephora...my second home! it's all about control - and being the mom, you've got it!) besides, there's nothing like a little pink gloss to make you feel bee-u-tee-full!
can I add a little proud to your bucket? How much more precious can she be?
Hey Sue!
I just had to take a moment again to tell Grace how wonderful and kind she is to donate her beautiful hair to Locks of Love. She is just as beautiful with shorter hair and now some little girl will be so happy to have such great hair.
Your spring pictures are so lovely.
Donna
Grace looks beautiful! I'm glad the people at Sephora did such a respectful makeover on a young lady! She's very sweet.
Grace is gorgeous, Susie Q! It's so nice she donated her hair to "Locks for Love"
