Lovely Places

I was recently asked this question..."Of all the cities you have visited, which is the most beautiful?" That would be tantamount to asking a mother which of her children she favors! One of the pleasures (And believe me, there ARE some!) of military life is the travel and we have been lucky enough to see and experience, first hand, so many special places. I could scarcely begin to choose the most lovely of those. Still, I do have *a few* favorites. Perhaps the easiest way to do this is in stages...so, let's begin here... Bill was stationed in Alameda California for 2 years. I can not tell you how excited I was to be able to spend so much time in an area I had fantasized about for years!
~Northern California~
From grand sweeping views to neighborhoods awash with color and character, San Francisco is visually stunning.
The absolutely breathtaking landscapes of the Napa Valley which feature wineries that have a delicious Old World feel to them.
I have yet to visit a place any more quaint or picturesque as Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. Situated on Carmel Bay, nestled in a pine forest above the spectacular pristine white-sand beach and turquoise blue water. It is a storybook village of art galleries, shops, wonderful restaurants simply oozing with charm.

I did a quick catch up on your blog so I wouldn't feel out of the loop. I can't wait to get life back to normal so I can check in daily again.

I, of course, must agree with you...the other place here (and one of my dream places to live) is Santa Barbara. If we ever win the big lottery (of course we'd have to play it first) we are heading right for a realtor there.
XOXO
Fabulous photos btw!

Some years ago, we were able to visit Napa Valley and drive down to Caramel. {Daughter and son in law in wine business then, so it was a working vacation for them} And oh my yes, we did love both those places.

What a dreamy location for "my" dream storybook cottage. :-)

Love all of the pictures you posted of your many travels. I have not been out blogging as much the past few days due to long work days, and busy nights. I've been getting caught up today and just wanted to let you know that your pictures are wonderful. I too have been to Carmel-by-the-Sea and it is beautiful. I would really like to go back as it is has been a number of years. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos!

Hey Suzie Q,
This is my neck of the woods! I'm so close to the wine country and SF. You'll often see me post about them.
We feel so lucky to live here! Thanks for your good thoughts for Grandpa!!
