Afternoon Light

Mom and I attended a Christmas Luncheon for the county's retired teachers. It was a lovely event and very well attended despite the additional 2 inches of snow we got overnight. The hall was lovely, the food quite good and the entertainment was delightful! The local school for the performing arts sent their award winning bell choir and oh what sweet music. It is always nice to go to such things with my mother. My mother taught school in this county for 32 years before retiring. I have gone with her often enough that they warmly greet this former pre-K/sometime substitute teacher like a fellow comrade in career educating! I got to visit with some of *my* teachers too. My second grade teacher, 6th grade and 2 from High School. That is always fun. My had they changed...of course *I* have not changed a bit. Nope. Not.a.bit. And if you believe that one, I have this bridge in England I would love to see you.... I hope your weekend is going well! Love and Hugs, Susie Q

Hi Susie, I always loved doing things with my Mom too. She was so much fun and never met a stranger. Now with two hip replacements she can't go like she used too.

I know what you mean...I saw some friends I haven't seen in years (my age) and boy did they age...not me though (wink!)

Christmas hugs!

I too love the fact that you do such wonderful things with your Mom. I have happy memories of the neat things my Mother and I used to do. She loved going to Disney World and would go on all the rides/attractions...even Thunder Mountain. She was a way cool Mom too!

Thank you for taking your mom to that banquet. Teachers get so little praise that I am sure your mom gets great satisfaction from seeing others who have given their lives to public service!

Warm hugs to you!
