It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood...

...a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Grace was out of school due to a teacher in service today. We had scheduled her yearly physical exam for this morning so off to the base we went. We love her doctor, such a sweet and caring woman. Grace did quite well, and as a reward, we had lunch at one of her favorite places. After lunch, we took a little drive, with the windows down and the moon roof open of course! Just a spectacular day weather wise! Blue skies and cooler temperatures. Lovely. We drove up to Wright Hill and walked around. The trees are just beginning to turn, most of the leaves have just the early hint of color but a few are boldly proclaiming, "It's Fall!" This is the memorial to the Wright Brothers. Looking West of the memorial...that is Wright Patterson AFB you see in the distance. Directly in front of the memorial lies Huffman Dam. To the right of the dam lies Huffman Prairie where the Wright Brothers first tested their new flying invention! As we returned to our little community, I realized that I had neglected to take photos of the last stone houses that still stand here. One of the tiniest is Aaron Nutt Cottage. So small but absolutely wonderful. Just across the street form Nutt Cottage stands the largest of our stone buildings. Another nearby home made of stone. Such a pretty place... These last two homes are obviously not made of stone but do sit near the 2 homes shown previously. This is a town home community that has been here for years. Built to resemble homes in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, each home is well tended, neat as a pin and awfully pretty. So let's make the most of this beautiful day, Since we're together, we might as well say, Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won't you be my neighbor? Have a sweet weekend dear friends! Hugs, Susie Q

Oh, what a wonderful friend you are, dear Sue! I saw your sweet comment yesterday morning, and made sure a I posted yesterday, as a result. Your thoughts and hugs were so appreciated. And coincided with my just seeing daylight after a challenging few weeks. Started a new job yesterday, and think things are getting back into synch again. :-) Have missed you, too, and can just feel fall through your lovely, lovely post here! I think we all love going on little outings with you, and this one is just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing, and for your kind heart! Hugs to you, too! :-)

You know I've lived in this area all my life, and never been to those places you photographed. How sad is that? I guess my daughter and I need to get out more! The stone cottage is just lovely.

Today, we're headed to a book sale and the library.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Sure, I'll be your neighbor! You live in a very pretty area.
I'm glad Grace has a nice doctor. I work for a nice doctor, too--it makes such a difference. She really considers her patients her 'children.' Such a good heart--I'm glad she's in my neighborhood!
BTW, my oldest son just LOVED Mr. Rogers growing up. Me, too. A whole show telling you that you are perfect just the way you are...what's not to love?

Loved the tour, great photos. Especially LOVE the dialogue on the right side of your blog about sitting a spell and all the interruptions...cute...because they are so real. By the way, how can you post so many photos in one post. I can only post six at a time??? I'll be sure to visit more often.

I'd love to be your neighbor! I've always dreamed of living in a picturesque small town, and all I got was the "small" part!
