Just One Little Thing...

I accomplished just one little thing today...I finally finished my Autumn door basket arrangement! I would have loved to add some pheasant feathers as well but we get so much wind and that wind drives what rain we do get onto the door. So, feathers do not last well. Now, can anyone explain that to me? Don't pheasants get wet in the wild? Hmm...maybe they all have little yellow slickers to wear when it rains. I do hope you will all approve of the basket. I hope you all know how much I respect all the artists, decorators and creative people that drop by here. Your opinions mean so much to me! Oh, and I did see 3:10 To Yuma...a pretty spiffy shoot 'em up of a Western. Bale and Crowe make a great on screen duo and manage to look pretty good too. Okay, well, that is just me but then...they are no Brian Dennehy but hey. Who is? I hope you are all well and enjoying a lovely weekend. And it DID rain! A veritable cloudburst! Whoopie! I'm singing in the rain, just singing in the rain...what a glorious feeling I'm happy again...
Hugs,
Susie Q

What a beautiful arrangement, Susie Q! Maybe those pheasants hide when it rains, LOL! We got some of that much needed rain ourselves. It is still hot here and doesn't seem much like fall, but I am looking so forward to it. I want lots of crisp, sunny days so I can take long meandering walks with the dog and enjoy the changing leaves.

I have a spare room for you to live in while you arrange my house for me. I want it to look just like yours. Grace can go to school with Drama, and we'll arrange "visits" for you and Bill...I have it all worked out. :)

I watched BD on a rerun of law and order last night and thought of YOU,

I suspect on a live bird, the feathers are constantly being groomed with oil from that little gland with which they preen and make themselves shiny and rainproof.

I approve of your arrangement.
I never decorate. What is wrong with me.

I love the arrangement on your door with or without the feathers, it is beautiful. We have had rain at least once a day for the last two weeks. Just enough to make the grass grow faster. lol. Have a happy weekend. connie from Texas

Your arrangement has inspired me! I put my tired old fall arrangement on our door.....I was thinking of making a new one & now after seeing yours, I will. Thank you for the push!

Don't know about the pheasant feathers & I will never be able to see BD on tv again without thinking of you.

why that looks like a Longaberger basket to me and of course an Ohio resident wouldn't be caught with a non-Longaberger,lol

And yes, I hate to burst your bubble but pheasants wear rain coats when it rains :)

Oh Sue, the arrangement is gorgeous! I've taken out all my Autumn decorations and it's all sitting on my spare bed right now...one day this week I'll put it all up. I know Autumn isn't officially here until Sept. 21st but I'm ready for a change! lol Didn't you know that pheasants have little yellow rain slickers??? I thought everyone knew that! hehe xoxo

Oh how BEAUTIFUL!!! I wish I could put pretty stuff like that on my front door. We get the afternoon sun in our front yard. And ANYTHING you put on our porch or on our door, will be fried to a burnt crisp within a couple hours. Guess it doesn't help that my door is black too, huh?

Right now, I have some Spring flowers on my door, that USE to be beautiful and bright. Now, they're more pastel like.

Love this door basket! Not sure how I missed it before...must have gotten all caught up in that snapdragon thing. lol

And hellllooooooo. Feathers are for flying! Of course they're going to take off in the wind. Ever seen a nekked bird darting around the friendly skies? Nooooooo, they're always covered in their feathers and everyone knows it's the feather's job to do the flying. Good gravy, Woman. Who taught you about the birds and the bees? I bet you think you have to hand milk a bee to get the honey out, huh? (They have machines to do the milking now. Duh!)

I love the basket. You truly are so creative!

And Christian Bale - as my sister said after we saw Batman Begins - "He's not a bat, he's a FOX!"
