NOW YOU'VE GONE AND DONE IT. I just got all caught up on your posts, only to find that you don't think your house is fab enough and that you wish to remodel it ... as you go on and on enumerating what is missing, you post the most adorable photos of what, to me, is THE PERFECT HOUSE. IT'S ONE OF THE REASONS I COME HERE!!! BECAUSE YOUR LIFE LOOKS SO DANG PERFECT TO ME AND YOUR HOUSE IS SO DANG PERFECT! I LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT AND NOOOOOOOOWWWW ... my house looks icky by comparison. Cuz I don't even have my laundry picked up. And that stupid place where there USED to be roses stenciled over my arch way doesn't even have a coat of paint over them thick enough to hide them. And there's poo on my patio. eww. And you have all kinds of pretty things and blue and white plates (I love blue and white plates!) and that cute angel on the wall and who doesn't love roosters?!? And trips to the country where you see pumpkins!?!? Oh my gosh! I will trade places with you right this second! Your house is paid for? WOW!!! That is AMAZING!!!
OK. I think I can stop rambling on about how imperfect I feel now by comparison to you. ha. I hope you are laughing with me. Aren't we ridiculous the way we compare ourselves to each other? But I truly DO want to be you and live in your "cutesy" house that is paid for and where you don't deal with attorneys and civil servants who come to question your parenting skills ...
Sometimes it's hard to just let it soak in: we are blessed. You did a good job of pointing that out in your blog. I am thankful for refrigeration and no bombs going off next door too. That was a nicely written post, by the way. ANOTHER REASON I AM JEALOUS OF YOU. ROFL. TRUE. And I want your garden. It's too fab. And I want your photography skills.
Oh ... and I have people who can take out that neighbor with the four car garage and the home theatre .. . well .. .. they'll take her to lunch . . . IN ANTARCTICA!!! heh heh heh. We'll have no more of her nonsense. We won't have her upsetting my Suzie Q. No no no. People who have to flaunt their stuff are soooooooo hollow. They are the people who sit in their houses and FIGHT LIKE CRAZY with their family ... yup. I've seen em. you've got it much better at your house.
If she shows up again, your smart remark for her is: OH, darling... can you keep a secret? This is just the TIP of our house ... the rest of it is underground. You know, like the highly sought after caves of Australia that are climate controlled year round naturally? It's amazing... and all carved out of stone. WE had to promise not to tell ANYONE that we got this model, otherwise everyone else would complain. You really MUST stop by sometime when I am not so busy. Then when she shows up, you blindfold her, spin her around a few times, and then drive her to ... australia. hee. "Yes ... these tunnels ARE long. We are thinking of putting in our own transit system." Oh the fun you could have.
OK. Have to go to bed.
Good to see you again, my friend! I'm glad your health is improving, your mood is improving, and that you are getting cool stuff in the mail to cheer you up. Sorry I'm such a downer lately. Hopefully Friday things will come out OK.

I love those pictures! And as an English major, I have to wonder - because I think about words an awful lot, and their meanings - how did we come to use the word "pumpkin" as a term of endearment?

Maybe our friend Google will have the answer.

p.s. I noticed how clever you are to change your banner and that you made your name on Flicker and posted it on the side ... area? What is that officially called? It looks very professional. I still need to learn more of the ins and outs of blogging. I just checked out back porch musings. Thanks for sending me over. I am hankering for fall.

Dear Sue, the pics of your daughter are beautiful! She looks like such a lovely young lady -- my soon-to-be 16-year-old would be scowling in every picture, and that's always assuming that she'd stand still long enough for me to snap them! :)

Mary
