When There's A Chill In The Air...

Photo: Country Living magazine
...move outdoors! As much as I love cocooning in the colder months, it would be a shame to stay all cooped up inside this entire season. Sure, uh huh, we all know it's getting colder out there, but the weather we experience in Autumn is some of the sweetest of the year. Fall's low humidity and gentle cool breezes are literally a "breath of fresh air" after a hot, humid Summer. Autumn is the last time of the year (For many of us) to truly enjoy your outside spaces. With a few warm throws or pretty blankets, you can bundle up as you sit outside and have a mug (A sturdy, big one of course!) of hot chocolate or cider. Lots of stores carry inexpensive and oh so durable fall-patterned table cloths and place mats that can be used with your outdoor furniture. Be sure place pumpkins and gourds around too. Line up pumpkins in a row on the ledge of your porch or down the steps. Hmm...now, how about some candles and a little dinner with someone you love as you sit and watch the sun set? Scatter some of the leaves about for a wonderful effect. Neatness doesn't count now...we are going for atmosphere! Baskets of gourds, Indian corn and mini pumpkins make a lovely, inexpensive centerpiece for indoor AND outdoor enjoyment. If you have a fire pit (or are lucky enough to have an outdoor fireplace), all the better! The crackle and pops always sound so cheery as the fire lights lights up the crisp night air. And who doesn't like the aroma? Mmmm...now THAT is Fall in all her glory. Oh, and while you have that fire going, roast a few marshmallows. Save some for me okay?

I love, love, love this post! Right now it's raining here in Michigan, but fall is one of my favorite times of year. Often, though, we forego the dinner out. Your idea about wrapping up and enjoying is a good one! I have visions of a row of pumpkins in my head now! I do love to visit here!

Beautiful picture and post. I just love the warm spice colors of autumn, and the spicy sweet scent of the leaves. As soon as the rain stops I intend to enjoy the outdoors:>)

It doesn't quite feel like Autumn here in Florida just yet (and it's raining again today), but I do have visions of hot cider, pumpkins, snuggling by the fireplace, etc. in my head. Awwww...sweet visions.

Hugs!

I really need to get outside more while I can. I haven't managed to do more than go back and forth between my car and my house, except for late night potty excursions under the moon (for Rosie my dog, not for me!) and I have to admit that it is nice to have the excuse, even if it's been cold enough for me to drag a blanket along to wrap myself in while star gazing.
