Sleepless?

"Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were suppose to be together... and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home... only to no home I'd ever known... I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like... magic."
If one of your favorite films just happens to be Sleepless In Seattle (It is one of my most beloved films of all time!) than lucky, lucky you! You might just be the one who scoops up this lovely houseboat, the one featured in the movie as Tom Hanks home....and all you will need is a cool 2.5 million smackaroonies! Take a look...
Sit at the dining room table and discuss the bittersweet moments of An Affair To Remember and The Dirty Dozen with your family!
From: SeattlePI.com 'Sleepless in Seattle' houseboat for sale -- Tom Hanks not included By BRAD WONGP-I REPORTER Well, maybe those historically low mortgage rates might come in handy after all. That is, if you want to buy the houseboat from the movie "Sleepless in Seattle." Fans of the 1993 film starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan will be pleased to know the 2,075-square-foot houseboat on Lake Union is selling for $2.5 million, according to a Coldwell Banker Bain listing that is "New on Market." The Southlake, a blog for the South Lake Union community, pointed out the houseboat sale Saturday morning. Since being listed Tuesday, more than 50 real estate agents and about a dozen potential buyers have toured the houseboat, said Rick Miner, the Coldwell Banker Bain agent who is showing the home. "It's probably the largest floating home on Lake Union," he said Saturday. "On a day like today, you're right in front of the boats. It's awesome." The owners, a husband and wife, bought it 14 years ago. "They love it but want to move to the East Coast to be near the grandkids," he said. On Saturday alone, Miner said he spent more than four hours at the houseboat for four different showings. The houseboat, built in 1978, features four bedrooms, nearly two full bathrooms, large windows and views of downtown Seattle. But forget about movie memorabilia. Miner said there were no special items in the home to hint at its motion picture fame. Miner said the wooden two-story structure with a shake roof incorporates traditional styling, a Cape Cod influence and "a casual beach house feel." So, generally speaking, how much would this piece of cinematic history cost you? If you can afford a $625,000 down payment and secure some type of jumbo mortgage with a rate of 8 percent, your monthly costs would be about $13,800. This example presumes a 30-year loan term. Of course, you can always just pay cash.

He Didn't Take The Bait

A red brick Georgian home in a great Oakwood, Ohio location.
Offered at $595,000 by Felix S McGinnis
937-602-5976
*sigh* Old Billy Boy would not take the bait. Silly man thought the *Father of the Bride* house was too expensive for us. Hm...I offered to serve him nothing but mac and cheese for the next 20 years and, for some reason, he STILL balked.
But hey. Being the good wife that I am, I found a few other places that would be quite do-able and still eat hamburger now and then.
How about that first one? Heck, that living room alone sold me. But still too high? Okay then...
I can do even better price wise and still get a lot of charm. How about a house in the Oregon Historic neighborhood of Dayton?
Offered at $275,000 by Listing Agent: Swick, Denise 937-743-2350, this home has gorgeous woodwork, a lovely garden and an adorable garden house.

Back into the $500 + range, we have this home in Waynesville, Ohio, just down the road from the town where we live.

I could love the wallpapered bathroom (The match for the pretty laundry room next door) and how about this pass through shower? Hmmm...but I KNOW I love the wine cellar room. Look at the brick work and copper sink. *sigh*

Offered by Listing Agent: Kyle Bowling 937-432-0246

In the $670 + range, we have this house which reminded me of Diane Keaton's home in Something's Gotta Give.

I would love this house for the bedroom and master bath alone! Talk about sweet serenity!

Listing Agent: Sherman, Patsy 937-298-6000

Yes, yes. I do love our Rabbit Run Cottage and I doubt we will be making any moves too soon.

Bill and I have been quite happy here even without the fancy amenities and, well, square footage of many homes. Still, I can glean ideas and have a little fun looking right? And if Billy dear is ever feeling really guilty about anything, I have a home or two to show him. Naw...he will never feel THAT guilty. Nope.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Love and Hugs,

Can You Say "Father Of The Bride"?

The actual house used in Father of the Bride
Photo from: Hooked On Houses Oh yes, I KNEW you could! I am being a bit of a copy cat today and posting a little like my beloved blog, Hooked On Houses. It is here that one dynamo of a lady named Julia shows us all manner of glorious spaces each day. Recently, she showed us a house that was very like the stunning home featured in the films, Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II. Oh how I adore that home...inside and outside, it is a pure gem. A dream. A Hollywood fantasy. Well, today I saw that fantasy in the flesh, well, the plaster and paint so to speak. Ahem...just G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. French and English country and oh so, oh so, me. Don'tcha thunk? Now, don't you think Bill should be a good boy and buy this little cottage for moi? Yes, I KNEW you would!

Uh huh, and, for a few dollars more, would I like the furnishings and bric a brac thrown in too? Why YES thank you!
I mean, we all know that Billy boy needs to do SOMETHING to repay me for his little faux pas recently. Right? Oh Billy.....now where IS that man. Grace? Look under the bed. Dan? Check the basement storage closet. Kipper? How about the attic crawl space...he has to be somewhere around here...
I hope your weekend is a sweet one. The weather here is beautiful and we have already been out and about. In for a bit and then, this evening, we are meeting up with some friends for dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. This family was stationed with us in upstate New York and it has been far too long since we last saw them!
Take care and stay well...be good to yourselves and smile!
Love and Hugs,
