Got Snow?
Why yes thank you. We did. In fact, Grace missed her first day back to school when the schools closed. She was quite happy. Imagine that!
I am still cleaning and fluffing and tweaking and puttering and, okay, so I am slow but it is getting done!
I am cleaning out drawers and closets and the storage room as I go along. Oh how happy Goodwill is with me. They have given me my own lane at the drive through. Okay, so they didn't but they smiled and said, "You again?"
I am still packing away Christmas and, though bittersweet, the house always feels lighter and cleaner in January. It is quieter and frees us up to do more cleaning and puttering and tweaking and fluffing around the nest...er...cottage.
Bill, who rarely gets sick, had the awful cold that has passed through the entire family. He is always so generous and that sweet man shared it with me. Wasn't that special? So, here I am honking and sputtering and snorting but only in the most feminine way possible. Oh, so you heard me? Not feminine you say? Okay, but I can't help it! Aw gee...
It was a quiet New Year's Eve but nice. We had dinner with Mom and our buddy *T* at one of our favorite places. We met up with 2 more friends, *M* and *M* and enjoyed a delicious dinner and lots of laughter. Then we all went to see "National Treasure: Book Of Secrets" and loved it! Yes, we knew that some critics did not like it but since when do I ever listen to critics?
It was fun and exciting and Grace loved it! Just as delightful as the first film and this one even has Helen Mirren! How could it have been anything but good?
Poor Bill did not even make it to Midnight but Grace, Dan and I did and we welcomed in the New Year with Kip, Lucy and Henry, apple pie and ice cream.
I forgot to talk about some of our Christmas booty! Mom gave both my brother and sis in law and us a treadmill. I love walking on it and wow. Won't it help me stuck to being more active in 2008?
I know, I know. I have to DO it but I will. I promise. My Mom is a pretty super lady eh?
My brother and sis in law gave Bill and me tickets to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band! How cool was that? Good seats and a great night out! It is in March and I am already looking forward to being with the Boss...er...I mean Bill! Thank you Jim and Lisa!
More soon...I am off to tweak and fluff some more.
I also wanted to thank all of you for the prayers you are sending up for Chris Burrell. I know his family will appreciate it so much.
Many blessings to you all.

Happy New Year sweetie! I hope 2008 will be fabulous for you and your family! What great gifts you got for Christmas! I saw The Boss 22 years ago when I was 13 yrs old. It was the first concert I ever went to. I went with my cousin, she was 15, it was Bruce's first aussie tour, and it was an open air concert. It teemed rain the entire night, we were soaking wet & freezing, but so HAPPY! lol It was the best night ever! lol
Amanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
How cool to get to see Bruce. Tell Jimmy he is a good brother-you know that *smile* Sorry you guys are sick *ugh*. I will call you this weekend to check on you all-so maybe we can get together as you mentioned next week for dinner. I thought January would be a calmer month-but it is filling up fast *smile*
Take care,
Love,
Terri
Sue,
That cold/virus is making the rounds from California to New jersey, so it is not surprising that it took a pit stop in the Midwest! Sorry, it ha to be at your home though. I just hate it when my puttering and tweaking is interrupted :>).
Your presents sound delightful. Sometimes I wish we had a treadmill, but it would probably just gather dust or become a clothes hanger ( like most seem to do eventually).
Take care of yourself, please. You are missed!
Janet
I don't have snow...just Rain Rain Rain!!
I hope you all feel better soon!
Blessings,
Robin
I agree - the New Year does have a clean feeling to it and makes me want to get everything in shape around the house!
Karla
where are you finding room for your treadmill?? Wouldn't it be great to have an "exercise room"!!
We enjoyed the "Treasures" sequel
Usually the critics and I never agree.
A treadmill for Christmas! That's a wonderful gift! I use mine almost everyday even though I have gym membership.
I want to see the National Treasures sequel even though that first one was a bit tiresome at the end with all those false endings! It's always hard to find something that we all can go see!
I'm sure Grace was happy to miss the 1st day back! I know my daughter is wishing something would delay her return to "the place of torture" as she calls it LOL!
Have fun decluttering and fluffing - I continue with that also!
Manuela
Shame on you for taunting me with your snow! No seriously, it is beautiful, and no I have no snow, please send some my way. I am glad you had a great holiday.
Hope you are all feeling a lot better.
I have been cleaning a fluffing today as well.
I want to see that movie too, as I loved the first one. We went to see Enchanted, and it was very cute and entertaining.
I have been to so many concerts, but never Bruce. I'm sure you will love it.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Rosemary
I brought home a cold from my daughter's family in Ky. Brenda (Rosie) advised me to take 2000mg of Vitamin C per day. I thought that was a little extreme and only took 1000mg a day and I'm now breathing freely. (I also took a Centrum as vitamins help each other to work and I thought what the hay, the more the merrier...lol)
OK...on the treadmill thing...what a blessing. I wish I could get one. It took me a year but walking every day for 30 min a day I lost 65 lb. The dang thing went kapoot and now it is all coming back on...arrrrrgggg!
Have a great evening!
No snow, just cold cold COLD! Well, that is until tomorrow, when it's supposed to be 60 degrees again.
Congrats on the great gifts - hope y'all are feeling better soon.
That was you honking?? And here I thought it was some late leaving geese flying overhead! hehe Teasing aside, I do hope you feel better real soon...that cold is really going around, you're about the 5th blogger I've visited today that has it! Hmmm think it's being passed through the comments??? lol
Wow, how lucky to be going to see the Boss...always been a big fan of his. If he sings "Dancing in the Dark", think of me, that's my very fave song of his:-) I've often thought of getting a threadmill but I know me, it will end up with the rest of my exercise equipment that I HAD to have and hardly used. lol
Isn't it a great feeling when you can declutter? I'm always amazed at all the stuff we tend to keep throughout the years.
My prayers are with Chris and his dad Mike...may Chris make a complete recovery and may Mike be safe!! xoxo
wish we'd get some snow out here!
Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday! I need you here to encourage me to purge some drawers! I have yet to even upack it all from moving!
I wish we did have some snow - it's going to be in the mid 60's this weekend!
Gosh, I miss snow. It's been cold here until today. Today was just very chilly.
I'm so sorry that you and Bill have been sick. Hope you're both better very soon.
I love my treadmill...I really do...but anytime it's pretty outside, I prefer to walk out and get fresh air.
Hugs!
Kat
So all that honking was you with a cold? And I thought there were Canada geese in the yard. Bruce Springsteen tickets...that is the coolest ever! March will be here before you know it.
Ahhhhh, the snow!
Ahhhhh, the colds!
-giggles-
So sorry Bill got it and passed it on. My husband has a cold too, but so far, it has not passed! I know, I shouldn't write that! I know. I know. ,-)
