Saturday Silliness

Awhile back the oh so dear Andi (Private Blog) tagged me for a little game. I was to choose the 5Th picture from the 5Th folder in my photo file. I did that very thing but never got around to posting it! I know....what a bad blogger I have become eh? Well, today I will rectify that situation! Now, would anyone like to tell me HOW a man can actually fall asleep with his head on a wooden stool? In this position? With his cat on his chest? I dunno but my Bill can! Just another of his many talents!
How silly is that?
I do hope all of your will have a wonderful weekend and have plenty to smile about! I am thinking of you all and how blessed I feel to be a part of this loving blog community!

A Public Service Announcement From Kipper

Please join my organization, "Stopping Pet Mommies Like My Mom Who Think Silly Pink Shirts Are Cute On Dogs Because They Are Not, They Are Bad And I Don't Like 'Em.".
Together dudes we can ban the use of sissy shirts and hats on all dogs, all the time, all over the world! Or, at the very least, ban the use of them on ME!
This has been a public service announcement from your friend Kipper.

This, That And The Other Thing

Edited to add: The dear little puppy, Nala, is an
Old English Sheepdog. Yes, she is gonna be huge!
These 2 beauties greeted me when I returned home today
What a bad, bad blogger I have been of late. Yes I have...I KNOW it. I have been neglectful in my posting and not visiting everyone as I so love to do. I have been by to see everyone but don't always leave a comment. I know...bad, bad blogger! See? I TOLD you. On that note, I recently heard from a blog friend that someone she has visited for awhile now was chastising people who do not leave comments. I actually saw something like that not too long ago myself. It was on a blog that was new to me, I visited and was taken aback by the writer's, "Any visitor here, who does not leave a comment, is a total loser!" Wow. That is one way to scare off any prospective blog visits! Why blog at all if the ONLY thing you care about is whether or not people leave a comment? Blog for the sheer fun of it, for your own enjoyment and if, IF others find something useful in what you publish, well, that is the delicious frosting on top!
That said, I LOVE comments. We all do right? Of course! It is a joy to hear from our friends both old and new. But we all have lives that keep us busy...it is not always convenient to read posts AND leave a comment. As much as I adore getting a note from all of you, I completely understand when you can't. I do hope that all of you will continue to visit me here, and that you will find something to make you smile from time to time.
The week of Valentine's Day was a busy one. I had several meetings to attend, volunteer duties,
a school party to help with, a little party here at Rabbit Run to get ready for and enjoy...well, let's just say it was hectic but oh so much fun. Grace loves having a little party and we asked a few friends who are so dear to us to share a little Valentine fun with us!
We received a package of sweet surprises that week...and upon opening the box, you all probably heard Grace's squeals of delight! That girl can scream with the best of 'em!
My dear blog friend (and if you do not yet know Sue, do yourself a favor and hop one over to visit! She is glorious!) Sue at Rue-Mouffetard
sent us Valentine goodies galore!
The Diva and I spent part of that week baking cookies using all the fun things Sue sent our girl.
And believe me, anything pink wins my girl's heart straight away!
Sue also included a book for me...she and I are both fans of the old film, "Since You Went Away" with Claudette Colbert, Jennifer Jones. Joseph Cotten, Shirley Temple and Monty Woolley.
Sue owned two copies of the book on which the film is based and you can imagine how tickled and moved I was to receive a copy from her. The book is a series of letters that "Anne" writes to her husband who is at sea during WW II. I have been reading a letter a night, just before I go to bed. I have enjoyed this immensely and can't thank Sue enough for these gifts.
Oh and Sue and I are in agreement..when they do a remake of "Since You Went Away", Brian will definitely play the Monty Woolley role! Who else?

Last week was also tax time for the folks from Rabbit Run Cottage! Here is my darlin' husband getting ready to undergo our

"procedure"! Aw gee Bill! Why d'ya look so scared??

This little angel is Nala and she is 6 weeks old! Nala came to live with our friends on Saturday. I saw her for the first time today and fell in love!

I wish you all a sweet week and that many happy smiles come your way!

Drive Boo Said...

This post is only a dramatization.
No children or animals were actually hurt.
Embarrassed, yes. Bored, yes.
Injured? Nope.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

I wanted to wish my friend Jim a most special Happy birthday! Today is his day, his birthday!
Jim? May this year be filled with joy and happy laughter, warm hugs and sweet memories, good health and more happiness than anyone can imagine!
Jim and I went to High School together and he is truly a blessing to know. He is a brilliant man, witty, loving, generous and kind. I am proud to be his friend...
Happy birthday to you Jim! Here's to 52 more!

Valentine's For Those You Love?

Hmm...I'm just not sure if the one you love will
be delighted or run for cover when you hand
him or her one of these little gems...
And if you WON'T be my Valentine...the lead will fly baby!
Nothing says romance more than a creepy clown face.
Now, after presenting this sweet card to your one true love,
you might wish to take her to a real sweet film like oh, let's say,
"Friday the 13th Part 12".
And if you won't be mine I'll bind you and gag you and hold you prisoner until you will...bwahahahahahahahah.
I love you truly...and what says that better than a little animal cruelty? Forget binding and gagging that girl you love...run over her a few times until she agrees to be your Valentine!
Okay, so I don't speak this language but even if it *says*
sumpthin' sweet, this evil little devil t'ain'y exactly puttin' me in
a romantic mood!
A Valentine for that devoted woman who you will now spurn
on this romantic day of days?
Perhaps she will pick up that Valentine from the top of the list and come *gunning* for YOU mister! A lemon? A LEMON? YOU'RE the LEMON buddy!
Okay. This Valentine is just totally awful. If anyone hands you one of these, I would smile, back away quietly and run, run, run! Follwed quickly by having them handed a restraining order. Happy Valentine's Day! Whoo Hoo.
Is it just me or does this one just give you the shivers?
"No Honey I don't, I tell ya no lie,
you are just weird, if I kissed ya I'd die."
Just a silly post that hopefully made you smile. I wanted to pop in and wish all of you a sweet and oh so special 14th. This day was created not only to show affection to a significant other but also to share our love with family and dear friends. You are all so, so very dear to me...Happy Valentine's Day to each one of you!
May this day bring you many smiles!
Love and Hugs,

Poor, Poor Pitiful Poster

Ah, romance! February is the month to celebrate love!
These are images I took of my great grandparent's wedding certificate.
Yes, yes. I am the original poor, pitiful poster/blogger of late. I truly do apologize for it. I have so many ideas for posts and am so behind...behind in both my posting and my commenting at YOUR blogs! I do hope you can forgive me...I always feel just terribly about it. This week has just been jam packed with this, that and the other thing...so just not enough time to visit everyone AND leave comments as I love to do.
I do hope you are all having a good week...Valentine's Day just crept right up on us didn't it? As I have been visiting all of you, I have so been enjoying all the sweet and pretty decor in your homes...all dedicated to the most romantic of holidays! We are having a little get together Saturday night, a casual Valentine party for some very special friends. Grace is already getting ready! The kid loves a good party!
Tomorrow I am volunteering at Grace's class Valentine party and what's not to love about a school party? Okay, so it gets loud and rowdy (31 4th graders hopped on sugar!) but that is all part of the fun right? RIGHT?
I am off, in a bit, to attend the teacher's conference for this quarter...Bill will meet me at Grace's school and
then we will all have dinner at a near by Mexican place we just discovered.
Did you watch the Westminster Dog Show this week? Of course, I never choose the winning dogs (My choice this year was the Golden Retriever and he only made 2nd in his group) but was so in love with last year's top dog, that sweet little Beagle! I hope this year's winner will be just as great an ambassador for dogs as his predecessor! He was a cutie...
We love to see their names...both the *Paper names* and the ones they use in their *Real* lives!
I thought the story behind the little terrier called "Chip" was cute. His *Daddy* had won some money in a Poker game and gave it to his *Mama* to get the dog she so wanted! Thus, "Chip" as in Poker Chip! Fun huh?
Oh those Pedigree commercials. Some are so adorable but some are so sad that I can not watch anymore. Those little faces behind the cage doors...I always think what would have happened to our Kipper had I not have found him at the shelter that lucky day 8 years ago.
Mom and I had lunch today after running a few errands. The wind was howling and now the rain has moved in. We have been in the 50s and 6os since last weekend but the cold is returning...all thanks to Henry's groundhog friend! *smile*
If you think about it, could you say a little prayer for my doggie niece Casey? I know most of you are animal lovers and understand how much I love our family's pets. Casey ran after a squirrel on Sunday and ended up falling on a tree limb that had come down in their yard. She never really *complained* or seemed injured until later. She ended up at the Emergency Vet's office late Sunday afternoon where it was discovered she had punctured a deep hole in her chest. Just a few centimeters over and we would have lost her. She is home and feeling more like herself now...she has 2 sets of stitches inside and a row of staples out. Bless her heart...she is a klutz much like her Auntie Sue! Casey is one of the most loving dogs I have ever been blessed to know. Gentle and loving but wow. She out "Marley's" Marley of book and film fame! Casey is found, more often than not, doing something she shouldn't....like destroying my brother's cell phone, digging craters in the back yard, stealing fish from the pond or just generally being silly & naughty. She is 15 months old and I hear that Labs take a while to calm down! Bless her...she is a handful but oh so sweet. She looks at me with those big brown eyes and I melt. Not a barker at all, so gentle with my nephew and just loves all of us...I pray she will heal quickly. I visited her Monday and today, letting her out and trying to make sure she gets a drink and stretches her legs. What is it about a protective head cone that makes a dog look so comical? I KNOW it is there because she was hurt but it is still hard NOT to chuckle. I promised Casey I wouldn't though...it embarrasses her so!
I will do a little catch up on the blog soon..till then please know how often I think of each one of you. I am so blessed by your friendship and support and love.
Happy Wednesday!
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

Henry's Big Adventure

A Sweet idea

Valentine's Day idea...from Martha herself!
Flowers and candy are the touchstones of courtship and romance right? But handing over a bouquet and a box of chocolates isn't the only way to show you're sweet on someone. What about this sweet idea?
Place a vase inside another that's taller and at least 1 inch wider; if the rims don't align, add candy to the outer vase to eliminate the height difference. Fill the gap between vases with candy. Fill small vase halfway with water. Add your choice of flowers...voila!
