Hooked On Houses...

...and I want no cure! The beautiful and oh so much fun Julia at Hooked On Houses keeps that sweet site just for those of us who crave looking inside homes. Oh the places you will see! If you are a confirmed house peek-er like me, if you are one of those people who takes their walks after dark in the hope that your neighbors will have their curtains open so you can peer inside...well then, Hooked On Houses is YOUR kind of website! This special spot on the web is always a treasure! Hop on over and take a look. I promise you will have a wonderful time! In the spirit of, and tribute to, Hooked On Houses, I am showcasing a wee cottage, a quirky little place that is for sale in a town near us. Oakwood is one of my favorite spots to drive through and *peek*. This home is offered at a paltry $1,700,000. So, um, if your significant other, your mother or your brother has no idea what to get you for Christmas, well, would this fill the bill?
The staircase...and the boxer dog. Does he go with the house? Aw...come here sweetie... The marble floors extend into the dining room... I can only imagine how often that poor dog's feet slide out from under him on all of that marble. I know, I know, spoken like a woman who will never have a floor made of marble...not that I WANT one. Really! I don't! I swear! The Living Room Now this is great. I am always looking for a spot to place my harp. Oh my...okay. So I don't have a harp. Rub it in okay?
Library
Books I have, a library I don't. Wait a mo...I DO have a tiny room that we CALL the library. It has running water, books and even a place to sit down.
Butler's Pantry
Doesn't everyone have one? A butler I mean...mine is named Jeeves.
The second kitchen in the lower level
Sun Room
I have a sun room too. It's called a deck. So there.
The Master Bedroom
A little too modern for me but yes, it IS huge!
Dressing Room
Okay! Okay! Yes it IS bigger than my bedroom! Sheesh...
Sitting room
And yes, this is about the size of MY living room thank you very much. Hmpf. Hey!I LIKE cozy...I DO!
Two More Bedrooms...
I DO like that fireplace...
3 of the many bathroom/powder rooms
Sheesh. Isn't it bad enough to have all those mirrors facing you when you get outta that bubbles...then they hafta go and place a set of scales there too! That is just so wrong on so many levels...
Geezee Pete! These folks love mirrors!
Part of the garden with the pool house off to the left.
And let's not discuss the fact that their pool house is much bigger than my house!
For more information, here is the home's MLS online:
Coldwell Banker Just in case you need to think of a cute, little stocking stuffer for me...ahem.
Love to you all,
Susie Q

I agree, too many mirrors for my taste. But, woe is me, my whole apartment would probably fit in the dressing room. I want that butler's pantry though, will they sell it seperately? :) xxoo

ok, if you twist my arm, I'll take the kitchen with the black and white checked flooring!!
All are so beautiful...I can't even IMAGINE living like that.
love, bj

I wouldn't even dream of living like that - the cleaning lady's daily salary is probably way more than my total budget for a month. The sermon at church today was about Joy; and I feel joy everytime I walk into my very own, paid-for abode!!! Thanks for the tour - it puts things into perspective!! Sally

Okay, I *do* like the kitchen, but other than that I would rather have your cute, personal home any day of the week.

Oh, my gosh, I nearly fell off my chair tonight when I moseyed over here and saw my name and blog mentioned. What a nice surprise! (Your check is in the mail. Ha.)

I cracked up all the way through this home tour at your comments. Too funny about your library with running water--I've got a couple of those, too.

How fun that they let the dog be in the MLS picture! I bet he does have a hard time with those marble floors, poor thing. Heck, I'd be slippin' and slidin' all over the house, myself! I'm too klutzy for marble.

Thanks for the shout-out, Susie Q. You made my day. :-)

Well...we have our library's in common...ours is much like yours...running water and a place to sit down...just grab a book or magazine and have a seat!!!

Wow! What a house! I think that there is just one scale. It reflected in the mirror so it looks like a pair. I can't imagine trying to keep a place like that clean. I would have no time for anything else. Sometimes smaller is better. Thanks for sharing!

When I see a house that large all I can think about is how much toilet paper you would have to buy for all those bathrooms...and have you seen the rising price of toilet paper lately! ANd yes, that poor dog having to walk on that marble floor...he's bound to throw out a hip or something....

Wow! What more is there to say...except maybe, double wow!

But I agree, tub, mirrors, scale....different.

When I was much younger my Mom and I used to snoop...I mean look...around new homes under construction. We would imagine what each room was and how the furniture might look.

Good gravy, heavens to mergatroid. What a house! Oh yes, it sure is perty, but hmmm, slippery floors, tons of mirrors, (shiver at the thought), all those bathrooms to keep clean, which kitchen we eatin' in tonight?
Yup, I'll keep my cozy little home, pooless, simple, a book here, a book there, lack of leather furniture with Cherry built in wall book cases, chandeliers, marble, hot tubs...yup, rooms as small as the sitting room. I love my cozy little home. Have better things to spend the mula on.
Thanks for sharing, it was fun!

It just seems to wrong after seeing all those people in Zimbabwe on the news, dying from cholera.

Oops. Sorry --

If I built a house, a sun room and a library would sure be something I would love to have.

I wonder if about 10 of us could go together and buy that house? hee hee

Beautiful house. I especially love the library. I could see myself sitting in there all day sipping tea and reading.

All I can say is wow and I hope the home comes with a maid and some windex cleaner for mirrors. It is beautiful and thanks for the walk through the home with you.............enjoyed

I suppose the house has been "staged" for sale but it seems so stark and empty. I guess I'm just a junk and clutter kind of gal.

The bath reveals the age of the house; about 15 years old. Wall to wall mirror with gold fixture and white-on-white was "in" then.

What an incredible home! Love your festive blog decor Sue. xoxo

Oh, if only I were rich! I'd buy the house, but only if I could afford a couple of maids to keep it clean! Hey, if I'm going to dream, I might as well dream big! HAHA

What a pretty house!!

I always cruise the MLS listings and take virtual tours of homes. Not that we are looking but I am just nosy!

Speaking of peeking in windows.......visit my blog to see my new couch and decor for my front room. Let me know what you think.

Isn't that just gorgeous? If only I had that little amount of money hanging around in my account. :-)

WOW! I could live in Jeeve's quarters, or that sitting room, for that matter. LOL, I SO agree about that neeeeeeedless scale in the bathroom. I mean, reeeeally! What a house. Amazing, just amazing. You are, as always, a hoot. Missed being in touch, and fun to be here again, after so long! Big, big, hugs to you. :-)

Too many mirrors. Give me RR any day of the week! I only wish I had my house as warmly decorated as yours is.
