What A Girl Needs...
...what a girl wants. Accessories. To accessorize. To punch up an outfit using lots of colorful beads and baubles and hair thingees and scarves and shoes and purses. Maybe this is not how Mr. Webster would define it but it is definitely how our Gracie does. So, what does a diva do when she wins a gift certificate from a custom sewn purse boutique? Ah...um...scream? Oh, that too. Then pester Mom until we git 'er done. So, today we got 'er done. Grace had today off so a Grandma, Mom and daughter shopping extravaganza was long overdo.
The scene of pure delight. A clothing boutique downstairs, a designer purse boutique up. Heaven must surely be like this...
Now, you have to love any shop that decorates like this right?
Okay, I'm climbing...don't push...I've been sick ya know...
And then...we reached it...Grace gasped. I panted...hey. That was one long gosh durned flight of steps ya know and I have been sick! Ahem...
There we were. Inside Jenna Claire. And it was glorious!
You start by choosing the basic style you want...and there were many from which to choose.
Then it is off to choose your fabrics and ribbon and, well, you get the picture. Grace was in LALA land the entire time we were there. We were assisted by the delightful Debby and she could not have been sweeter or more help. Grace adored her and looks forward to returning to see Debby again!
How can you not love a shop that offers you chocolate covered strawberries?
Grace and Debby choose the goodies...
Grace showing off one of her choices.
Debby introduced Grace to Mary in the workroom and they showed her around much to a certain *almost 10 year old's* delight! Everyone could not have been nicer.
It was a fun and memorable experience. Grace is still in serious LALA land over it all and Mom, well, I had a blast watching my girl. Thank you to everyone at Jenna Claire... the shop is amazing!

Oh what fun!!! Grace looks so pretty! Looking forward to seeing the finished handbag!
Love your new Irish Header...your blog looks wonderful!
This looks like you had so much fun, Sue!
I'd like to invite you back over to the back porch for another look at my snap shot post. My daughter and granddaughter have a blanket project going for St Louis Childrens Hospital. I'd love for you to have a look. The info is at the bottom of the above mentioned post. You and Grace might like to make a blanket together. Kim's blog is under construction, but the blanket story and Elijah's story has been published there
Thanks! Pat
Oh my!! How I would have loved doing this when I was 10!! I loved handbags and shoes so much but I never had many of either. Just the necessities!! How ironic that now I can't be bothered to change from one purse to another..I carry one until it falls apart then change because I have to!! And shoes..well, since I discovered Crocs..that's it. Year round..holes and all even in winter!! LOL Now I'm all about comfort!!
I do still love to look at handbags and love all the pretty fabrics they are using now. Can't wait to see Grace's final choice. What fun for all three of you to visit this place and especially to get some of those yummy looking chocolate strawberries!! (See where my priorities lie now?) LOL
Hugs,
Hope
I can't wait to see the finished product myself!
What a neat place!!
Ok, now how fun is THAT??? Jayla would've been in heaven too. She's the girliest of the girly...right there next to Grace!
I'm so glad she had a good time. I can't wait to see what her final purse looks like.
Enjoy your weekend, my friend.
Is it possible to have TOO much fun?? Looks like a neat shop..please post pictures of Grace's choice.. ;)
Cassie
ooo fun stuff! I love your St. Pat's theme!
Karla
That looks like an awsome place to have fun. Glad you felt like getting out.
Suzi I am shocked! to see how big your daughter is getting. She looks like a teenager!!! OMG!
I guess I should visit more often. She is thinner and taller.
Yikes!
Glad you enjoyed the chocolate covered strawbs...aren't they soooo good! Love the shop you found. Wonderful time spent with mum and daughter!
xoxo

WOW! I can't wait to see the finished product! How wonderful...your lil princess is so pretty, more and more!
Hugs,
Robin
So glad you are feeling better.
How fun for you and especially Grace.
I had a very nice Valentine's Day, thank you.
I love your new St. Patty's Day look. How Springy, and Irish.
I was flipping around the TV the other night. Late at night, and guess who was on a rerun of Just Shoot Me???? I bet you can guess?
Have a great weekend!
Rosemary
Yay for Grace! I'm sitting here drooling, trying desperately not to be jealous of an almost 10 year old. Not.doing.well.
Glad you both had a blast. Great store!
Hi Susie! How fun that must have been. How long will it take to have the finished purse? I can't wait to see it! What a clever idea for a store.
Love the Irish Header.
Hugs,
Penny
Hi Susie Q! I thought I contacted you this morning, but since I don't see my comments here I supposed I didn't... please come by my house in the roses... I have mentioned you on my blog!

Hi Sue!
I didn't know you were sick because I was also sick and just trudging along. Didn't get around to many (any?) other blogs. So glad you are on the mend. And what a great shop! Wow. Fabulous idea. And such a cute dog post, having your little cutie patootie puppie write your blog. You are SO dang funny.
And as for the get together, it would be great to have it line up with a season or event. If we are coming out your way, I think it would be great if summer weren't in full force anymore ... cuz we Californians will melt! We are spoiled by tropical breezes. ha. But the thought of the scenery in the fall is way the heck tantalizing to me! And we can all wear sweaters.
Of course ... I'll have to figure out the baby sitting thing for Tristan. He will be in kindergarden then. But with enough notice anything is possible, don't you think?
The only absolute no no dates for me are September 23: Tristan's birthday and October 4th: My sixth anniverary. Every thing else should be wide open.
Those are my thoughts. I think you are sweet to be willing to put all that effort into arranging all of this. If I can save up my money and get a sitter you won't be able to keep me away! (and as I am no doubt the rowdiest, you might wish that I had stayed home. You have been forwarned. ha.)
Anyways ... have I EVER left a short comment? I'm the same way in person! Eventually I get to my point. ha. What is my point? I love your pots, I'm glad you are well, and I am way excited about the prospect of getting together. TOTAL FUN.
p.s. OK. That should have read: I love your POSTS ... but I'm sure I would love your pots if I saw those too.
Shall we invite Brian Dennehy to tag along?
He might like to see your pots as well.
hee.
Custom hand made handbags AND chocolate covered strawberries????!! This surely was Heaven! Can't wait to see the finished bag. Hope you're having a great weekend!
Amanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
Dear sue,
Oh, how sweet, and what a lot of fun! Looks like a terrific store, even with all those stairs. :)
So glad to hear that you are on the mend -- blogland is just not the same without your sweet voice!
Have a wonderful weekend. Love the wearin' of the green, btw!
xoxo,
mary
Congratulations to Gracie for winning that prize. I think I'd scream, too. I've never even heard of a place like that. Gracie must have had a blast!
If nothing else, those chocolate covered strawberries would lure me inside...
What a great way to spend some time with your daughter. Clever idea the store owner had....eliminates a lot of inventory overstock. Can't wait to see how her bag turns out :-) Rosie
Looks like a very fun and special day...Smiles
Now don't forget the blessing that ends
may you be in heaven an hour before the devil knows you're dead!
Such fun and Grace...what a beauty she is. I believe she may hail from County Cork...can't wait to see what you come up with on the handbag...my grandmother taught us to make bathslippers (for when you got out of the shower by simply sewing the two short ends together and then making a hem to insert elastic around the top...what fun...
hugs
Sandi
What a neat concept - I've never heard of that! And I'm so glad the "diva" was happy, because if daughter ain't happy........(I know because I've been there).
Looks like such fun! You can tell by Grace's smile she truly enjoyed it.
xo
Oh what fun! To have a purse made especially for Grace. Jenna Claire's looks like little piece of heaven to me. Be sure to share the finished product with us. I'm eager to see it.
Hi Sue,
What an amazing shop, Grace would have been so excited as would Jacqui! And choclate covered strawberries while you shop, you ladies really know how to shop in style! Yum! Love your Irish makeover here! Hubby has Irish in his heritage, here is a little Irish blessing from us to you :
An Irish Prayer
May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.
Have a lovely Sunday Sue:)
Jenn and Jacqui

That looks like so much fun...well not the massive staircase, but everything else does. Grace is obviously happy with your mother daughter outing.

What a great day that must have been, a big mid-winter boost for all three girls. I'm sure the ladies at the shop must have loved designing with Grace. We've already seen her artistic talent so I'm sure her purse will be gorgeous. I can't wait to see it.
I love your header. I am not irish. (at least I don't think I am) But every year in February the Highland games come to Mesa & I love going!! It is this weekend & I can't wait!
That is the cutest store! I bet she was excited! I wish I could go there!
What a fun place. Wish we had one close by.

What a fun and lovely shop!! And such a pretty Grace! Your green blog is awesome!
Grace certainly is high maintenance isn't she, kinda like her Mom..!
I love girly girls, and my granddaughters both love all this stuff too.
It looks like a great place to spend a few hours..!
It must have been a fantastic day. What a neat place too. I'm looking forward to seeing what she picked out.
Heather
Sounds like a fantastic time!
But geee, you have been sick! How about if they had an elevator for recently-been-sick Mommies? ,-)
