A Sweet Evening...

Tonight was one of those evenings that I love...the decorating is almost done so all the twinkling white lights were lit and Bill came home with take out Chinese food. The snow was falling ever so gently outside and it just felt so cozy to be inside with my family. Yes, there is still much to be finished and work that needs to done but for tonight we just decided to enjoy some down time. We let Bill choose the movie and his choice? A true holiday classic, "The Bishop's Wife" starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven. The wonderful supporting cast includes the incomparable Monty Wooley and Elsa Lanchester.
Bishop Henry Brogham prays for divine guidance with the troubled building of a new
cathedral. His plea is seemingly answered by a handsome and ever so suave angel
named Dudley who reveals his true identity initially only to the clergyman. However, Dudley's mission isn't to help with the construction of the cathedral. He is there as a guide to Henry and the people around him. Henry has become obsessed with the building of the new cathedral, to the detriment of his duties and marriage with his neglected, unhappy wife, Julia. Everyone, except for Henry, is charmed by the newcomer, even the non-religious Professor Wutheridge.
And so the story unfolds...
It is a sweet and charming, wholesome and heartwarming film. I could easily believe that Cary Grant WAS an angel...who wouldn't?
I do hope you are all well and will enjoy a wonderful weekend. I am still fighting with a cold virus but little does it know that I am determined to win this battle! Too much to do to be sick! Be good to yourselves and smile often...I think all of you are perfect in every way! Love and Hugs, Susie Q

I love that movie too! It was on the other night while I was wrapping gifts.

I hope you're enjoying the Holidays.

BTW, I posted how my Mom and I made our cinnamon stick Santas. Stop by and see when you can.

Hugs!

Sweet Bunny Lady, sorry to hear you're not 'in the pink' right now. Hope you will feel better soon. Not good to be ill for the holidays. I am trying hard to stay germ free this year. So far it's working. xxoo

How I LOVE Cary Grant!
I watched Little Women last night while wrapping. Those oldies are such treasures!

Hope you feel much better soon, Susie Q!

I haven't seen that movie in a while. We watched a bit of the old Katharine Hepburn Little Women last night but the acting style is so odd. We were actually laughing. We always watch the newer one at Christmas time.

Sounds like you had a perfect evening!

Sounds like the perfect evening, Sue. I love this movie, too!

We walked historic St Charles yesterday. The temps were in 30's. The characters and chestnut roasters weren't there yet, but we enjoyed anyway!

We've been warned of ice and snow, Monday, to continue through the week. Stocking up on provisions (plenty of chocolate!) and getting ready to enjoy the coziness.

I love The Bishop's Wife as well. That young Cary Grant was a quite handsome Angel. It aired on television just a week ago and I ended up watching it again...a true classic.

Hope you're feeling better and have a wonderful weekend.

Hey, thanks for visiting my blog. Those cookies are really yummy, and easy to make. I just realized I'm down to the last half dozen (I keep giving them away or eating them), so I think I'd better make some more, LOL!

Oh, wasn't Loretta Young the MOST beautiful?

Sounds like a wonderful evening. I'm glad you got to kick back and enjoy the holiday. There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done, made, decorated and we forget to take time out for ourselves to just enjoy being together with loved ones. I TIVO'd The Bishop's Wife and intend to watch it this weekend and just chill for a while. Thanks for the idea. :)

Awww...Susie...it sounds like an enchanting evening. I love it when we can take time and just "be"...no rushing, no wrapping, no parties to attend and most of all no shopping. What a great way to spend an evening enjoying life and your beautiful family.

Tell your sweet "hubbin" he not only has fabulous taste in woman...he has great taste in movies...I love that movie...I think I'm going to run out and try to find it...and put it on next week when the kids start coming home! They'll probably cringe...but I know deep down they will love it!

I'm praying you feel better soon... my hubbin must have been around you as of late...he seems to be battling the same cold "bug"....hmmmm....Susie..
have you been traveling to and from California as much as he has? I just know that's where the germs came from...those blasted blankets they pass out HAVE to be full of germs, not to mention being cooped up in an airplane with all that recirculated air for 3 and 1/2 hours...yikes...don't get me started...my OCD just takes over in matters of germs!

Thanks, too for all your prayers and best wishes for our precious Jackie while she is recovering from her hospital stay last week.

Blessings...
Teresa
