Resolutions? Oh WE'VE Got Resolutions...

We all make a few resolutions as another new year dawns fresh and bright and then, often as early as January 2nd, we break our resolve and forget the promises we made. Just this afternoon I compiled a list of resolutions that I intend to keep in the new year...uh huh. I think that 2009 will see old Susie Q succeed with her new year resolutions at long last!
I will lose weight the fast & easy way!
I will order a catalog of new clothing ideas... ...and begin to dress with a greater sense of style.
I will improve my parenting techniques...
I shall discover new ways to beat hot flashes...
I will join some new & exciting organizations...
I will abolish my wrinkled hands by doing more dishes...
I will purchase a lovely wig so I can see how I would look in the young & hip styles...
I will always have a smoke to prevent loss of temper...
I will buy soda as gifts for all those 2009 babies!
I will update all of my make up... I will get a nice tan and help all the infants I know to get one too (while they are swigging their soda pop)
I will wear only my undies while doing farm work...
...or fighting fires!
I will keep my family free of goiters...
I will dance with Bill no matter how silly we look doing it...
I will get more strenuous exercise like this...
I will gather the family 'round the kitchen table more often...
I will keep my car cleaner...
I will travel more...
I will show Bill more affection...
I will meet with my girlfriends for lunch more often...
I will work on my cooking skills... ...and I won't burn the beer!
I will sing and sing and sing...
I will take my dog for longer walks...
I will get new and more fashionable glasses...
I will try new photography techniques...
I will keep a cleaner house...
I will get out the old bathing suit and hit the beach... ...and I will continue being so, so grateful that I am a member of this sweet blogging circle of amazing people. Each one of you has blessed my life in so many ways.
God bless you & may 2009 be filled with joy for you, your family and your friends.
Happy New Year!
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q Many of the vintage signs and advertisements were found at : Found In My Mom's Basement

Oh my gosh! LOL. sanitized tapeworm? Giving the baby cola sooner, these are hilarious! Makes you wonder what advertisements will make people gasp in horror 100 years from now. Happy New Year Susie!

LOL! I love old advertisments. It is amazing we all survived the 50's....

My favorite Christmas present of all time was a sun lamp I received when I was 16. I promptly sun burned my face and proudly went to school to show it off!

Happy New Year Sweet Sue! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you make it this way.

OH MY...those vintage signs were totally cracking me up! What the heck is a goiter anyway? Amazing the kinds of things they got away with in advertising! The bra/firefighter one was a doozy. Thanks for the laughs!

Happy New Year, dear Sue!! I'm back from my little blogging break and now having fun catching up with everyone. I so enjoyed reading your last few posts I had missed...sounds like you had a lovely Christmas but what a shame Santa still didn't bring you Brian himself! hehe

Now these are the type of New Year's Resolutions I should be able to keep as well!! LOL Oh, Sue, you are so good for my heart, you make me laugh out loud every time I visit:-)

Wishing you and yours all the very best that 2009 has to offer, dear friend. Love you! xoxo

You're too much Susie Q!!! I loved this post and all the old advertisements. I will prefer that you just go ahead and lose your temper this year and not "lite up" the Marlborough!

And I so wanted to do lunch with you in 2009 but I hope I don't have to come attired like your friends in the photo! You'd be worth it though...I'm certain!

Have a Happy, Happy New Year Sue!

Love and Hugs, Andi...who used to own one of those sunlamps back in the day...and you can get burned under them...speaking from the voice of experience!!!

It's hard to imagine telling moms to light up a cigarette and give their babies a Coke! It's a wonder anyone saw their 10th birthday!

LivingTheLife said...

I LOVE your list...where oh where do you find these ever so clever ads?? Seriously, malt beer to help infants get a better start in life...and how about lighting up a cig for "sane sake"...the bull we have been fed all our lives...it's amazing any of us are sane!! All that bull makes me want to go out and buy stock in Maidenform!!!

Hope you and your sweet family have a very blessed year. You have certainly blessed me by the sheer fact you have become a dear sweet blog friend to me...always making me think, laugh and remember to take time and enjoy!

Thanks for being you!!

Blessings...
T

P.S. I've been absent far too long...but some of it is b/c Mr. Blog has an issue with letting me post comments or POST in general...I'm hoping he gets a new attitude in 09!! Along with my new computer (which I'm still waiting to be delivered) things should turn around soon!

Aren't some of those ads unbelievable? Sure, let's bake our babies in the sun, then give them some beer. Keep the giggles coming - you are always a bright spot in my day!!! Sally

LOL! Loved all these old ads --I can't believe the one about giving cola to babies so they will 'fit in" socially during the adolescent years --lol!

I remember those plastic little girl wigs! Oh my -- does that make me old? Lol!
