Extreme Week-Over

The week is over but it was such a sweet one. These last days of Summer are perfect for enjoying a nice long drive in the country, buying some farm fresh produce & flowers or visiting a fun local spot...
...a place like the Second Street Public Market in downtown Dayton. Straight from the garden flowers...
...smell oh so sweet!
Delicious food treats...from vegetarian...
...to soup and sandwiches...
...to beautiful crepes.
Paired with a good bottle of wine. Perfect!
Then there is dessert...oh yes. Blackberry pies, chocolate fudge and Greek pastries...
Or, how about a made from scratch berry, creme and chocolate crepe?
And when you can't eat one more bite, indulge yourself with
some lovely scented soaps and lotions.
Or stop by the Humane Society booth & visit with one of the adorable
dogs and cats looking for homes.
We left the Market and drove into Beavercreek to see the Extreme Makeover house!
You will soon see this home featured on the new season of the popular series. Ty Pennington and crew were here recently and this is their finished product! I won't give away any secrets before the episode airs but it was a joy to see this family gifted with such a blessing. Here is your sneak peek...
We also spent a little time North of Dayton, in Urbana, Ohio. We had
to be in the area one day and we stopped by the Robert Rothschild Farm.
We picked up a few goodies...jams and oils...to bring home but I wish we could
have brought these sweet ones along too...
Whew...that was just a taste of our week's activities! I hope you enjoyed coming along with us! It is always a joy to share a little fun!
Tonight is game 2 for Grace so off to the football field we go!
I hope your weekend is treating you well and that you are finding lots to smile about!
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

I'm sitting here trying not eat until dinner, and you show us such yummy looking food! I really had to concentrate on the pretty flowers. Thanks for the sneak peak on the house. I don't always watch, but will look for Dayton's contribution. Have a good weekend - what's left of it. Sally

It is always such a pleasure to visit your blog and to see the places back home. I really enjoyed the pictures and stories around them. When you mentioned Beavercreek, my heart skipped a beat. We lived there a good many years. Our families are from that area. Thanks so much.
Hugs,
Cheryl

Hey Neighbor!!

I LOVE the market!! I could make a special trip to Dayton just to go!! I really don't see too many places that make crepes anymore and I love them!! The one they were cooking was absolutely huge! Yummo! :-) And you can't beat the prices of the flowers at the markets. Some of those bunches looked great for drying. And of course the rescue pets were so loveable. How I'd love to take one home. Would you believe we have a 2 pet ordinance...unbelievable. Especially now when homeless pets are on the rise. Go figure.

I will have to watch Extreme Makeover. I always cry but it's worth it. Thanks for the pics.

You had a wonderful and busy week. I'm glad you shared it. I need to get out more before the weather gets nasty. Hope the rest of your weekend is great, Suzy!!!

xoxo
Jane

That looks like my kind of fun Susie! I love farm markets and exploring new places to eat and new things to see. A perfect weekend! Wish I had known abut all this before we went to Ohio for the weekend a couple weeks ago. We weren't that far from Dayton!

Hi Suz....well your weekends are always filled with such fun stuff...I want to be you for just a week..I laughed when I saw the picture of the fudge lady...when we were up in Jersey we went to the beach for the day and ofcourse they have a big salt water taffy/fudge shop there...what beach town doesn't have a fudge shop...Just as we were leaving I said to the guys that I wanted to stop and pick up a sweat shirt and some fudge....So they drop me off...I run up a big flight of stairs to the tee-shirt shop get my sweat shirt and in seconds the weather turned bad and it was just like a hurricane....this beach is an island and quite a ways out from land...It poured...No it really poured...SO I'm running back to the car and I see daughter and husband waving and pointing and by this time I am wet to my underwear..then I hear them yelling...
"Go Get the Fudge....Get the Fudge"...they actually locked me out of the car....I was able to throw my sweatshirt bag through a half opened window where once again I hear.."Get the Fudge"....they figured I was already wet...funny part, they don't eat fudge....

Wow!...what a fun place to shop or just look around and then I would be sure to sample a few goodies...I love the fresh flowers!
Wal-Mart has started carrying fresh ones but they don't have a good smell.
