Down By The Seaside In Seaside...

Nope, I am not really repeating myself. Really! We just happened to be *down by the seaside* IN Seaside, Florida! (where most of The Truman Show was filmed and it was one of the first communities adopting the design movement known as new urbanism) Oh how we enjoyed our day in this wonderful area! The beaches and towns and people and homes of South Walton are delightful in every way!

We stopped in here, The Great Southern Cafe, for lunch...
...and feasted on Shrimp and Grits Ya Ya! Can you say scrunptiousososos? Wow.
Smoked Gouda cheese grits smothered with a sauté of applewood-smoked bacon, spinach, shallots, garlic, portobello mushrooms and cream, finished with spicy shrimp and sweet potato haystack. Yum!
The Seaside Store was just as fresh as a sweet Spring breeze. So many *oh I must take this home* items and everything is in crisp shades of blue and white. I picked up a great book about the homes of Seaside and a little metal Seaside name plate.

I knew that Grace would love this shop, Deja Vu...

...and was I right? Oh yeah...my own Miss Hollywood!

This display will give you an idea how lovely this shop is! Grace found the most adorable black and white polka dot sun dress for Easter.

This is Queen Bee Cupcakes. How cute is this? A bakery in an Airstream trailer...adorable shop, friendly staff and delicious cupcakes too!

We each chose one...Grace had the Vanilla Pink, Bill picked the Sweet and Tart and I just had to try the Chocolate Lover's. Mmmmm.
If you don't find any pretty seashells along the ocean front, stop by the open air market and take a look at the ones for sale!

And the homes of Seaside are each just full of individual personality and spirit...

This lovely inn is the Vera Bradley inn, The Inn By The Sea.

What a perfect spot to relax and unwind...

Oh what a day we had...and we look forward to returning to this area someday soon...this time we hope to
stay in the heart of this unique and beautiful area!

Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

I just love it there. You feel such peace when you stop there. When April was a small child she always said she would live there=) It has been awhile since we visited. Love your photos.

What an absolutely beautiful part of the country! Hopefully I'll get to see Seaside for myself one day! I know I would just love it.

That cupcake trailer is too clever and boy oh boy do those cupcakes look delish! What I would give to have one of those cupcakes right about now!!

How wonderful that you were able to enjoy that day with Bill and Grace. Be sure and show us an Easter picture of Grace in her sundress. I'm always showing my 13-year old granddaughter something that Grace is wearing. Both Grace and my Caitlin are doing a great job developing their style. It's fun to watch this new generation of cuties! Have a good week. Sally

All I can say is those shell photos should be on cards. Beautiful! What a wonderful place to get away to -- especially after this winter!
