Sleepless?

"Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were suppose to be together... and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home... only to no home I'd ever known... I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like... magic."
If one of your favorite films just happens to be Sleepless In Seattle (It is one of my most beloved films of all time!) than lucky, lucky you! You might just be the one who scoops up this lovely houseboat, the one featured in the movie as Tom Hanks home....and all you will need is a cool 2.5 million smackaroonies! Take a look...
Sit at the dining room table and discuss the bittersweet moments of An Affair To Remember and The Dirty Dozen with your family!
From: SeattlePI.com 'Sleepless in Seattle' houseboat for sale -- Tom Hanks not included By BRAD WONGP-I REPORTER Well, maybe those historically low mortgage rates might come in handy after all. That is, if you want to buy the houseboat from the movie "Sleepless in Seattle." Fans of the 1993 film starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan will be pleased to know the 2,075-square-foot houseboat on Lake Union is selling for $2.5 million, according to a Coldwell Banker Bain listing that is "New on Market." The Southlake, a blog for the South Lake Union community, pointed out the houseboat sale Saturday morning. Since being listed Tuesday, more than 50 real estate agents and about a dozen potential buyers have toured the houseboat, said Rick Miner, the Coldwell Banker Bain agent who is showing the home. "It's probably the largest floating home on Lake Union," he said Saturday. "On a day like today, you're right in front of the boats. It's awesome." The owners, a husband and wife, bought it 14 years ago. "They love it but want to move to the East Coast to be near the grandkids," he said. On Saturday alone, Miner said he spent more than four hours at the houseboat for four different showings. The houseboat, built in 1978, features four bedrooms, nearly two full bathrooms, large windows and views of downtown Seattle. But forget about movie memorabilia. Miner said there were no special items in the home to hint at its motion picture fame. Miner said the wooden two-story structure with a shake roof incorporates traditional styling, a Cape Cod influence and "a casual beach house feel." So, generally speaking, how much would this piece of cinematic history cost you? If you can afford a $625,000 down payment and secure some type of jumbo mortgage with a rate of 8 percent, your monthly costs would be about $13,800. This example presumes a 30-year loan term. Of course, you can always just pay cash.

Good gravy! Oh yeah, we have that kind of cash laying around. Not! Hee hee. Gosh, I wish I would have remembered this place. Would have gone and checked it out just for the fun of it when we were out there a few months ago. Oh well. I can't believe how much it is selling for, but then again, yeah I can. Okay, so I'm wishy washy. ;)

I too loved that movie. Tom hanks and Meg Ryan just go well together. I loved you've got mail too. Cute post. Thanks for sharing.

I was drooling although I'd rather keep my 2 feet on land, lol. My boss thinks some rich woman is going to whine to her husband until he buys it for her. He's probably right.

I have always loved that house/boat/house. :) Every time I watch that movie I can imagine myself there ... with Sweet Baby James, of course. Not that Tom Hanks wouldn't be a plus too. I'm so bad! I'd be on that deck all day everyday too, rain or shine. Thanks for sharing such good clear pictures of it. I'm in heaven. xxoo

I loved that movie...it is one of my all time favorites...every time I go to the top of the Empire State building I look around for them lol. But I think that seems a bit steep for the houseboat..even though it is pretty.

Ok...first of all...I did love that movie...awesome stuff...but I DO have some concerns about this floating wonder. Aside, from the cost...you know...I could write a check (wink~ I could write it...but it probably couldn't be cashed!)...but I much more prefer to pay "higher" interest rates on my money! UH! what's with charging such high interest rates for JUMBO loans anyway! Don't get me started...I'm sorry...I'm getting a tad "off" track with my original thought...back to that...why oh why? does a house boat need a dripper sprinkler system...it's on the water for heavens sake...do they even HAVE a yard?...Secondly, it states that it is wide open and you can sit and see in many directions...is the fact it IS wide open the reason they have a "WIND CHIME" in the kitchen...quite frankly, that kind of scares me...cos if indeed it does get windy enough to cos a windchime in the kitchen to dingle-ling...then, I would be in a state of green most of the time. There were a couple of other things that kind of concerned me...but I forget those as of now...so I think...just to be on the safe and sane side...I'm going to just enjoy the view from your lovely post...and then re-rent the movie...and enjoy it again!

You crack me up with what you find to post about...always intriguing, always funny and always entertaining~

Blessings....
Teresa

Hey Sue! I actually own the movie and have seen it no less than 10 time. I was always quite intriqued with the house boat in the movie... wondering what living in/on it would feel/be like. Very cold in the winter, I'm sure.

I always wanted to live here. I could swing the dues and property tax, but that mortgage payment would be a whopper!

I love this house. I remember the movie. I need to watch it again. I just checked, I have the movie in VHS. I noticed the comment about the windchimes. I am sure it is not from the wind blowing through the house, although that could be, but the rocking of the house on the waves could be what gets them going. There are also some chimes in the picture with the woodstove/fireplace too. If I was going to have a houseboat, I would live where there are no hurricanes.

I don't remember it being that pretty on the inside... Wasn't it ultra modern? What fun would it be to own that little number!?

2.5 million? What a ridiculous amount! It's not even that great

So...do the houseboats rock if the waves get sloppy in a storm? If so, how do you make sure that everything stays on the walls and shelves? Earthquake tape or tackie stuff?
