A Blog End...Or A New Beginning?

Being kind is really so simple!

In a week where I seriously debated ending this blog...
there were such sweet offerings of friendship and love.
Of course these dear ones had no idea I had considered
taking Rabbit Run Cottage down for good.

Time to write and photograph a blog properly is
limited these days and I don't get to visit visit all of you
as I would like. When I do make my way around the blog world
I don't always leave a comment and for that I apologize.

So many of you have come to mean so much to me. Most of you
are supporting and loving and I have been blessed to spend
time with many of you...becoming real friends. True friends.

Sadly I have also seen the demise of what I thought were loving
friendships and that is always upsetting to me. I considered
ending Rabbit Run Cottage for many reasons not the
least of which was the absence of these friendships
in the blogging world as well as the world outside.

I must not have much to offer as a blogger I deduced or these
people would not have found it so easy to turn away.
It is true that I am not one to constantly change my decor
or blog about a design project and yes. This seems to be
what the blogging world centers on these days.

But then I received those kind words and encouraging
emails from dear ones and I realized why I blog.
I blog for me, for my close friends and family, for the friends who
I have met through blogging that hang in there with me loving,
gently supporting and making me feel silly for ever questioning
my presence in the blog world.

One may never know how their kind word, that smile freely given,
the words of encouragement offered may mean to someone but
never let that stop you from sending that love out into the world.

Be a blessings...be a good friend...take time to care.

I will keep Rabbit Run Cottage online because I enjoy this
sweet spot in cyberspace. Through it I have met some
wonderful people who have been so kind and I hope to meet
 even more in the future.

I won't be the most popular blog on the block no, but that's
just fine with me. As long as I can offer my heart, my photography,
and my writing and have one person who smiles because of it, well,
I am successful!

My love to you all and a special hug to those of you
who are one of my blessings.

Susie, please don't stop! I have to tell you that my life has been in an uproar too and I haven't been leaving many comments on blogs. That's not very encouraging of me, is it? Sorry. I have always enjoyed your blog...always. Blogs have really changed since we all started. These days they seem to be about sponsorships and ads. That's ok for some but I still like the friendly connection that comes from being moms and home lovers. That said, I hope you won't stop blogging.

Oh no dear Stacey...I am sticking with it! Because f special people like you! I hate that I do;t leave comments like I used to but we are all so busy with work and family and well, it is just hard! I too miss the more casual days...I don;t ever want to be so big, blog wise, that I miss the friendship connection. Sending you love!
Love,
Sue

I started my blog for family and friends and if I picked up a few others along the way great. I look at it as my online diary You have to do what is comfortable for you.

There has been a lot of discussion around the blogs about growing your blog, making money, getting sponsors, etc. etc. And, that is just not what I enjoy about blogging. I'm considering not even checking the 'rock star' blogs anymore, even though on occasion they have some desirable content. It just takes so much time to slog through all the advertisements and giveaways to get to the content. It is always so refreshing to read a blog like yours -- knowing that you are there only to share your life and loves. I appreciate each and every time you put up a blog post -- keep at it when you have time. As I follow you on Facebook, I don't see how you have time to breathe, let alone do everything you do!!! Hi sweet friend! I know exactly what you mean. In my last post, I mentioned how life has gotten in the way of my blogging like I used to. I too have considered ending my blog, but you know what? I started my blog for me...no one else. It's kinda like my diary. I love looking back and seeing how truly blessed I am. Even if no one else reads it, it's important to me so I will keep at it. I might not post as often as I did before, but I will try to keep it up. I hope you will too. YOU and your sweet family mean a lot to me.

Big hugs and much love,
Kat

I too have become discouraged with blogging. I posted every day for 2 1/2 years; it's a great deal of work, and I slowed down. I am now only blogging one day a week--Monday.

I will not advertise.

I trust that you and I can stay Blogger friends, even if we both slow down.

I am glad you posted, Susie!

HI Susie! I've been a bad blogging friend and I apologize! I do love your blog and your photos. Love seeing them on FaceBook too. I agree with Stacey and Sally about how blogland has changed. I don't enjoy wading through all the ads and pop ups on other blogs and everyone is so busy to comment back. I'm glad you're not shutting down your blog and I promise to be a better blogging friend from this day forward!
You are the sweetie,
shelia ;)

I am glad you have decided not to end your blog. I have been a follower forever. I know that your life is filled with more amazing things than blogging, so I appreciated the moments you are able to.

I have also not been able to leave comments as often, but I do read your posts and appreciate each one of them.
Hugs,
Penny

I could have written this post. I hardly blog anymore and I never seem to leave a comment. I do visit my favorite blogs on occasion but it is less than I used to do in the beginning. So I know how you are being pulled. I have always enjoyed your blog and your beautiful photos. But sometimes life changes and we get nudged in different directions like I seem to be lately. Not sure what I am going to do either. It's hard to just stop isn't it.

Hi Susie,
I know what you mean. I lost my heart for blogging a few months ago when my sister passed away. I just didn't see the purpose in it anymore. Then all I could hear was her saying to me I can't wait to see what you post next (she was my biggest fan). So I gave it my all and continued to post. I have not been able to get around as much as I would like either, life just has a way of keeping us busy. You keep blogging OK and sharing your beautiful family with us.
Sending you big hugs, Elizabeth

Sue, if regular posting were required, many of us would be in trouble. Like you, I read more than I comment lately, and I write less than I used to, for sure. FB has been good for quick comments, and I admit my attention has been there more than in my blog.

However, I treasure the world of blogs, yours most certainly included. Here we can express ourselves more fully. Some things just need more than a line or a paragraph. Like you, I've considered stopping, but I'm glad I have this arena. I'm glad you're sticking around.

Well, Susie Q...I think we all get tired, after awhile. I post almost every single day and it takes a LOT of time and energy..plus I find myself getting behind in my house work and etc. So, every now and then, I take a nice break.

I really am disappointed about all the ads and such on blogs now...loading time is so slow, I give up, many times, and just turn my computer off.

I will admit the part of blogging I enjoy most is taking photos, working on my post to make it interesting to others and making my blog pretty. I love leaving family history for my grands and greats. I love the relationships...I don't mind commenting but get frustrated when I run out of time and can't visit all.

Hang in there, girl...just blog the way YOU want to and don't worry about the rest.
love and kisses, bj

I've just ventured back into blog-space after being gone for three years. I clicked on Rabbit Run Cottage to see what Susie Q had been doing. Wow ... you scared me when I came upon "A Blog End". So glad you've changed your mind. It's such a happy place to visit. All the best!

Love this! I am new to blogging and did not realize it was this whole other world. I really just starting out doing it for me. I needed an outlet to work through some things that have happened in my life. It was cathartic to write about losing my Mom. When my extended family viewed my blog, they all opened up and shared how much it meant to them to read it. I then realized that I have so much to share. I love cooking, traveling and photography. I figured I could contribute to making someone else smile or not feel alone in their lives. Whether I succeed in that or not, it feels good that I tried. So, please keep blogging. You may feel your contribution is small, but to someone else it may mean much more!

Much Love From A Fellow Blogger,
Angela

I am in the same boat as you, having run my blog for many years, and no not "trendy" or "popular" BUT I love doing it. I also won't do ads. While we don't visit each others blogs often, I just can't imagine the world without your beautiful blog Susie. Your presence here means so much to so many people and I am glad you are not giving it up.
