Pure Magic

Is there anything better than relaxing with a good book on a lazy Summer day?
Now, I haven't had one of those lazy days yet but one day soon... Each Summer I re-read several books. Among them are Jane Eyre, To Kill A Mockingbird, Anne Frank; The Diary of a Young Girl & Pride and Prejudice. I also love re-reading several young people's classics like Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little. Bill and will both read Elmore Leonard's new one, Road Dogs, and I will try Janet Evanovich's Finger Lickin' Fifteen. I have also picked up David Lebovitz's, The Sweet Life in Paris and Colm Toibin's, Brooklyn: A Novel. What's on your Summer reading list? Love and Hugs, Susie Q

I truly hope you find time to read and have a few lazy days. Right now I'm on a Patricia Cornwell roll. However, right now I'm reading a book by John Katzenbach, called the Shadow Man. Very interesting. I like murder mysteries and manly kind of books. Not too much into the romance type novels. I have read the Pilot's Wife. That's a good one to read.

I tend to curl up with a good book in the cold winter months. Too many garden chores this time of year for me. But if I did read in summer, I'd have to do so hanging in a hammock! =)

I love to re-read books too. Some are Chrismas traditions and others I just read when I'm in the mood. Hope you get one of those lazy days soon!

I'm going to find "A sweet life in Paris" to read. For the most part, I don't read books in the summer; but love my magazines anytime. However, they are getting so expensive; I may resort to library books this year. Hope you find some time to read that ambitious list of yours. Sally

Lots of Dominick Dunne and other books from the 2009 book fair. J is reading a James Herriott and Mississippi River Folk Tales. Both of these books are at the lake, so that means we "need" to get back there, as soon as possible!! I brought 2 of my books home, so I'm alright!!

I should get out my old copy of To Kill a Mockingbird and reread it over the summer. I also have several Michael Lee West books I want to read. Michael Lee is Gollum of Designs by Gollum. Lovely lady and wonderful writer.

Hi Susie! Oh, I love Jane Eyre! I read it in the ninth grade and I don't know how many times since!
Enjoy your books!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

You've mentioned some of my favourites too Susie - to Kill A Mockingbird is probably on my Top 10 list :-) I've been picking up a few books at garage sales. Last weekend I found Steve Martin's "Born Standing Up" and just started reading that. Next, "We were the Mulvaneys".
Happy Reading Sue!

Great idea about annual re-reading, Sue. I don't really have a reading list, but need to start one. I like to go to the library at least once a week, especially in the summertime.

I love love love picking up a book and finding a good spot to curl up and read. And I love taking a hot bath while reading my book and sipping on a glass of wine. Heaven. Sadly, blogging has kept me from reading like I used to.

Hugs!
Kat

I would love to reread each one you mentioned and add Beach Music to the list of great rereads.

I want to read My Sister's Keeper soon. It's not new but I STILL haven't read it. I just finished the audio version of The Sugar Queen, a nice light read for summer. I like the audio books for travel and ironing.

It's been a while since I've read something new, but something I've been talking about a long time. David Sedaris is in order.

I've missed you and am glad to be back.

Much love to you -

Andrea

What great books. I read about two books a month. If I read to much at one time I get so sleepy and then I have to re-read what I missed the next time I pick up the book.
Take care and have a great day,
Elizabeth

There was a time when I had a book in my hands at all times...could even cook and read at the same time! lol However, once the wonder of the computer and internet arrived here at my house, I'm afraid reading a book became a thing of the past! Shame on me, I know. These days all I read are magazines! My son Shawn loves to read and he has quite a collection of books:-) xoxo

Have a GREAT weekend!

I am currently reading "Say Goodbye" by Lisa Gardner. I love suspense novels and this is one of the best I have read in a long time. So good ( "how good is it?" you ask) that I read 300 pages the other day while relaxing in the Poconos. Back to reality now that I am home, but I *do* read at least a chapter of a book every single night. I have been doing this for over 50 years...scarrrrry...how did I get to be this old??

I wish I had more time to read - I had to take the last book I checked out back, having only read a few pages because I ran out of time!

Oh, I re-read books, too. I think I have read Little Women more times than i can count. Also, Pride and Prejudice, all of Austen (and the Brontes, too), and every few years I get the urge to make it through all of The Forsyte Saga; got my daughter Anne hooked on that, too.

Summer always meant reading for me when I was a kid, too... reading, swimming and fishing with my Dad, and antiquing with my Mom. It was a good childhood!

Now where did I put my reading glasses?

LOVE that picture and, of course, I LOVE Summer reading (well, any reading in any season).

Right now Gary is re-reading TKAM;he reads it at least once a year (as do I!). So, you know I agree with you on that one.

I have been reading so much this Summer. Right now I'm reading The Book of Lost Things; I just finished the Percy Jackson series (it's actually a middle school book--fantasy, set among Greek gods; Grace would probably love it!); I have several mysteries in my pile to take to the beach this next weekend.
