As Still As A Statue

Once again, if it is a statue, and it's Summer, we must be in downtown Dayton. Yes, statues have invaded once again. I had a lot of fun with the ones from last year so I hopped into the Rabbit Mobile and headed downtown. I only took a few pictures and only used 4 of the statues but I had such fun.
I hope to get back down this weekend and *meet* a few more of the characters which will be calling Dayton home this Summer! Gosh it is hot today! 90 + and oy! The humidity! Grace had her last day of violin Summer camp today and the parents were treated to a mini concert featuring the theme from Star Wars, Puff the Magic Dragon
and other well known tunes. Is it just me or does anyone else tear up (okay. SOB!) at Puff? It is such a sweet but oh so bittersweet song! Oh my...I am a bit overly teary aren't I? *sigh*
Tomorrow we have a day at the pool planned so Mom here will be well ensconced under the pagoda with a good book. Grace will be, of course, not. *smile*
Oh! We had a hoot last night at the concert! What fun. The arena was filled to capacity and everyone sang along and there was lots of dancin' goin' on as well. Miss Grace and her BFF, the divine Miss K were hot on the dance floor. Literally and figuratively! They had such fun...and no. I didn't have my camera! Can you believe that? ACK!
I hope you are staying cool and smiling often...have another glass of lemonade and hum a chorus of Puff for me!
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

Afternoon, Susieness! Oh, the statues are wonderful! I'd love to see them in person!
You're making me a little sad hearing all about your little Gracie's fun times! My kids all are grown, well, they're adults! But this makes me think of the summers we were always so busy doing 'kid stuff'!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

Great Statutes. I may have to try to talk hubby in to moving up your way when he retires, so many cool things to do. Have fun with your book and Grace at the pool.

Hi Bunny Lady!
You take such nice pictures and I love those statues. Nice to hear Miss Grace had fun. I would have been giggling the whole time she was dancing with her BFF. I probably would have gotten up and danced with them. :) Yes, Puff makes me tear up too and now I can't get the tune out of my head. That's a good thing though. xxoo

For a city that many say is dying, Dayton is still doing a lot of things for the arts, aren't we? I need to get downtown soon, maybe a cooler day... 2nd St Market, some fresh bread, some flowers from Steve the Flowerman, a little key lime pie from the pie lady, and not to forget the cabbage rolls.... Maybe Saturday on the way up to Tipp... Bee-you-tee-ful photos, as usual... xoxo Sue

Hey Susie!

Hugs!

Just stopping by to say hi. Those statues look cool and it's good that Gracie is learning the violin and dancing up a storm ... too bad about the heat, though! Swim day should help with that, huh?

I'm not feeling too witty today. Just stopping in.

Thanks for "following" my blog. That made my day. You rock as per usual.

Love you!

Wendy

What fun! The statues are quite something? Do they visit every summer?

Thanks for sharing the statues. I'd sit with you under that pagoda with a good book, while I listen to the splashing.

Hi Susie Q

I Haven't been by in ages ... had lots of family celebrations going on and less computer time.

I saw the big statue of the famous Time Square kissing couple in San Diego last year --it was really big and beautiful! Your photos are fantastic!

I scrolled through prior posts and see Gracie was an MVP--way to go! Is school over too? Hope you all enjoy summer vacation!

Those statues are amazing...as are your photos, of course!! I love them!!

Yes, Puff always makes me tear up a little bit too. Dad and I used to sing it together a lot when I was little, so I have childhood memories of it too...which always makes me sentimental.

Sounds like some great times with Grace. Keep having FUN!

I so love those statues! How fun to have them in the downtown area during the summer. Looking forward to seeing pictures of the other ones:-)

Puff the Magic Dragon was one of my favourite songs and I still love to hear it when they play it on the radio once in a while!! You do realize I'll now have that song in my head for the rest of the evening??? lol

We just went through a couple of weeks with very hot temps and sunshine but since yesterday it's cooled down to a more pleasant 70F with some rain yesterday and a bit today. I cannot take the high 80's, 90's and even 100's that some of you have...I think then I would have to park myself in front of the air conditioner and never move! lol Love ya! xoxo

I love Puff and one of my favorite albums of all times is "P,P&M 10 Years Together". I have had it in album format, tape and now CD. I believe I first bought it in 1975. Wow, I mus have been an infant!

I am also liking your Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Ponies music this evening.
