It's strawberry festival time in Plant City Florida.
It was one of the things we loved best about
living in Tampa for 3 years!
Oh how good all the treats were...how fresh,
how juicy, how sweet.
I say we are in need of a fresh and of so
sweet treat. What do you think? We may not all live in
Florida but strawberries can be found at our local
markets all year long!
Creamy Sugared Strawberries
~From Mary Engelbreit's Sweet Treats~
Nothing could be simpler to make than this creamy strawberry dessert, yet it is more sophisticated than you might imagine. Prepare it in a glass serving dish to show off the colorful layers, and serve small portions - it's rich.
Serves 6
1 quart small strawberries, hulled
1 (15-ounce) container sour cream
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
1. Place the strawberries in a shallow 1-quart bowl,
distributing them evenly.
Using the back of a spoon or a rubber spatula, spread
the sour cream in an even layer over the fruit.
Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly on top of the cream.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for
at least 2 hours and up to 5 hours before serving.
2. To serve, spoon the strawberries, with their
sour cream topping, into individual dessert bowls.
Enjoy!

Ooh, that sounds delicious!!! Simple, but really rich-sounding! (I'm thinking you could also do some cream cheese in there too. LOL)
Yummy...
i need to make a trip down to Irvine...there's the BEST strawberry farm there, that runs tours for kids, and lets them pick their own strawberries!
