Welcome September

By all of these lovely tokens September days are here,
With Summer's best of weather And Autumn's best of cheer.
  ~Helen Hunt Jackson

Welcome September. I have missed you.
The leaves are already beginning to change
thanks to some unseasonable cool and rainy
weather. The sunflowers are blooming and
Fall is most certainly on it's way.

The morrow was a bright September morn;
The earth was beautiful as if newborn;
There was nameless splendor everywhere,
That wild exhilaration in the air,
Which makes the passers in the city street
Congratulate each other as they meet.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Wishing you a safe, healthy and very happy
September!

Warmly,
Susie Q

A "Sunny" Welcome For September

"By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer."
~Helen Hunt Jackson

"If I were a flower I would be a

sunflower. To always follow the sun,

Turn my back to darkness,
Stand proud, tall and straight even

with my head full of seeds."

 ~ Pam Stewart

“The new country lay open before me: there were no
fences in those days, and I could choose my own way
over the grass uplands, trusting the pony to get me home
again. Sometimes I followed the sunflower-bordered
roads. Fuchs told me that the sunflowers were introduced
into that country by the Mormons; that at the time of the
persecution when they left Missouri and struck out into
the wilderness to find a place where they could worship
God in their own way, the members of the first exploring
party, crossing the plains to Utah, scattered sunflower
seeds as they went. The next summer, when the long trains
of wagons came through with all the women and children,
they had a sunflower trail to follow. I believe that botanists do
not confirm Jake's story but, insist that the sunflower was
native to those plains. Nevertheless, that legend has stuck in
my mind, and sunflower-bordered roads always seem to
me the roads to freedom.”
~Willa Cather

Welcome September,
 welcome Autumn!

September Photo Shoots

I have been so honored to
have been asked to shoot another wedding and 2
more family sessions. I love nothing more than doing this!
East End Girl Photography at your service!

The wedding was one of the
sweetest I have seen and was so much fun.
Happiness always Katie and Shawn!

I can't believe sweet Tabitha is 6 months old already!
She and her Mom and Dad are such a special family.

And wow! Luke is almost two! How did that happen!
He and his lovely parents make one of the most wonderful families.

I am so grateful to these amazing people for
allowing me to be a part of their lives! And aren't they all photogenic?

Summer 2013 was just amazing! It was a bit of a whirlwind
to be sure but so much fun. A family trip to Quebec, a girlfriend getaway
to Tennessee and North Carolina. We saw Brian Wilson, the Happy Together Tour,
Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, The Blues Brothers and the legendary Tony
Bennett in concert.

We had visitors from around the country,
lazy evenings with friends on the deck, day trips to Columbus and Cincinnati and Bill
and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary in late August.

We began that weekend with Tony Bennett and finished with
a wonderful dinner with family and
friends. We also have reservations to take a weekend trip to Ohio's
Amish country in November to continue the celebrating! All in all a delightful
Summer to remember!

Here's to a beautiful and happy September for all of us!
Sunflower season is here, the sun sets just a wee bit earlier, the breeze
feels cooler and its time to begin decorating for Autumn!
My favorite time of year is upon us!

Warmly,
Susie Q

It's Finally Here!

It's here! Autumn is finally here! My favorite time of the year and
all the world seems bathed in a soft gold light...

Each leaf on every tree seems to explode with color...

The mornings are now "put on a sweater" chilly and are often bathed in mist...

I love the colors of each Fall treat...like Indian Corn!

Or delicious Autumn apples!

The pop of an orange pumpkin...

...or the glow of a sunflower.

Sunsets seem just a little more beautiful...

And what's better than jumping into a pile of freshly raked, oh so crunchy Fall leaves!

Venture down any country road and you will find farm fields filled
with warm, rich shades of gold & brown...

...orange & yellow...

...and red.

Uh huh...the world just seems more beautiful in the Autumn and I am
so excited to greet this magical season once again.

Each leaf...

Each pumpkin and gourd...

Each ear of corn...

There are so many wonderful things to cherish in the Fall. Among
my most favorite are these...

Quiet evenings by the fire playing games

Soft, warm flannel sheets on the bed

The glow of flickering candles

Fall festivals

The scents of cinnamon, oranges & cloves simmering on the stove

Pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn

Hot bowls of hearty soups and stews

Cozy robes and slippers at the end of the day

A hot apple fresh from the the oven
Chili and corn bread or warm polenta cakes

The wind rustling through the leaves

Caramel apples

Hot apple cider...

These are just a few of the things I love about Fall.
What are some of YOUR Autumn joys?

With love always...
