7 Weird Things...ONLY 7?

I was recently tagged by sweet "Sugar Bear" and you all know how much I love a good list so here goes....
Each player starts with 7 random weird facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged write their 7 things on their blog and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names! That is it!

From the HBO film, "Foreign Affairs" with Joanne Woodward

1. Okay, it is no secret that I adore Brian Dennehy. And here is where I need to mention a few things. I have gotten a few odd emails from people whom I do not know who think they need to "enlighten" me about some things. So let me just say this....there is little to nothing anyone could tell me about this man that I do not know, good, bad, fantastic or rotten. Oh and uh huh....I KNOW he is almost 70 now. But since when did a man getting older preclude someone thinking he is an amazing actor or, dare I say, sexy? Gee whiz, I will be 51 this year and I never did go for men younger than myself! Besides, I do not ask anyone else to follow my lead. I will adore whomever I wish...I have followed this man and his career for over 30 years. He has done some amazing television and film work and yes, been in some real pieces of, let us say, phooey. But on stage he is magnificent. One of the best ever. His 2 Tony Awards were not handed out for phooey. Okay, so I am "weirdly" loyal and protective about this man. Bill will even tell you how HE thinks the guy is bloody great. And no matter how much I adore Mr. D, Bill is, and always will be, my number one man, my hero, my best buddy. 'Nuff said.

Okay, what is so weird....that I followed his career for over 30 years? Had a crush on him for over 30 years? You might think so....not me! Harmless, fun and sweet. That is how Bill sees it. I love that guy....

2. I am a geek for a Royal Wedding. No, they do not always end "happily ever after" and most are far from a real life fairy tale. I am not that silly so please do not send me any "Are you crazy?" emails. Well, about THIS anyway. I just love all the pomp and circumstance and fluff and finery. The pageantry of it all. And NO. I am NOT old enough to have been around for Elizabeth and George V's wedding thank you very much. Hmpf....the very idea....

3. I speak to my pets like I would to a human being. Okay, so do many of you. But I know that there are also many who think I am quite odd to do so. I really DO think they understand me...most of the time. Actually, I think they understand me BETTER than most people do. I surely do understand THEM better than I do many people.

Henry

Lucy

Kipper

4. I really do think that we should all try to find something we like about everyone else...I am such a Pollyanna that way. Okay, so perhaps I could not find too much sweet to say about....let's say....Adolf Hitler, but other than that....

I do not say it is easy and oh gosh are there times that finding even one thing that I like about someone who is just plain mean or rude is so difficult. But it can be done. Usually. Most of the time. It makes it easier to get along with them if you can find "just one thing" that you can like about them. ONE thing. It is better for your mental health if nothing else. They might not deserve your decision to "get along" with them but it will be better for you and might just rub off....who knows. It has worked for me and it has, well failed miserably, but I still try. Yeah, yeah. Just call me Susie Q Pollyanna.

5. I sing all the time. A lot. Really. A Lot. My children ask me to stop a lot. I am not bad. I am not great. But I sing. And sing. I sing a lot of show tunes. A LOT of show tunes. Right now I am working my way through the Kander and Ebb portfolio. Then I move into a re-evaluation of Lerner and Lowe. The Earth will move.

6. I love my teddy bears. No hidden meanings or psycho analysis needed. For that at least. I just love them. They all mean a lot to me for various reasons. I may be 50 but, about many things, I am still a kid at heart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
7. On that note.....I have seen The Wiggles in concert. Yes, we took my daughter and my nephew but here is the weird part. I LOVED it. I would go again even though my daughter now would probably not be caught there for a million dollars. It was fun and silly and I know their entire music catalog. Weird huh?And that Anthony is kinda cute. I always did like accents....
I am now to tag 7 blog friends....okay. Pulling 7 names out at random....*drum roll please*....
Dawn, Terri, Andi, Jen, Missy, Rosemary, Mari Nanci. If you do not wish to play, heck, that is okay by me. I am weird that way.....or wait. Is that number 8?? Can't I have a number 8 weird fact?? Gee whiz....that annoys me. I want to keep making lists....I am so odd that way. Ooh....that is number 9....hey! How about you ALL do a list....okay...that means you Cheryl, Sheila, Deb, Pea, Teresa, Rhoda, Andrea, Amy, Chris, Betty Jo.....and on and on....
I Have Been Tagged Again! OUCH!
Hmmm...now. I have been tagged. Does this mean the forest service or wildlife control will be recording my every move? They will be oh so bored then won't they....keeping track of Sue in her natural habitat. *Yawn* Gets up, walks dog, reads paper, wakes child, puts cotton in ears to block whining from waking child, fixes child's breakfast, fixes pet's breakfast, exciting no? Are you still with me? Sends whining child off to school, makes a few phone calls, wonders why the telephone is not working, realizes that cotton is still in ears, removes cotton....*yawn*
Wildlife control would be better served by following the antics of a turtle me thinks.
Huh? Not THAT kind of tagged...well heck. NOW you tell me.
Okay. Brown English Muffin sent me this so here goes....
1. What did you do in 2006 that you've never done before?
I blogged! Really! I know you can not believe that about a 50 year old woman but I had never blogged, or been blogged. It was exciting and magical and thrilling! The earth moved!
I LOVE blogging!
2. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My sweet hairdresser (and good friend) Erica gave birth to twins! Twin girls and oh gee. They are the cutest things....I just talked to her this morning! Going to see them this weekend....almost 4 months old now and growing like weeds.
3. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully no. Unless you count that spider plant I killed. I am still waiting for charges to be filed against me but I swear it was a mercy killing! You believe me don't you?
4. What countries did you visit?
None this year, unless you count those vacations that I took in my imagination! No? But I have a VERY vivid imagination! Still no? Awwww....
5. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
The ability to fly and stop time with my mind. Okay, so that is just silly huh? Aw gee, then JUST the ability to stop time. If not that then, having Bill home for GOOD will suffice!
6. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
I don't know that I have any dates firmly etched upon my memory....I tend to remember everything great that happened and the not so great things start to fade away....dates I don't remember well. I guess that is why I am always so late sending out birthday cards huh?
7. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing worth mentioning! Just a minor bruising to my ego and a self esteem wounding that occurred in the Fall but I recovered. You can barely see the scar now!
8. Who's behavior merited celebration?
Um...well, I would say Bill's dedication to his family, my kids, who have been (for the most part) a great help to me and who have put up with my *single* parenting skills
while missing their Dad's presence on a daily basis.
9. Who's behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Hmmm....that spider plant's behavior was truly awful, which is why I lost my temper and...um, uh...on the advice of my attorney, I have nothing more to say about it at this time.
Other than that, maybe....um...Paris Hilton? Britney Spears? They are pretty appalling, with or without underwear.
10. Where did most of your money go?
College fees, kid's clothes and shoes (Why do I feed her such nutritious things? She just keeps growing!!), airplane tickets so Bill can could home every month....those things and all that Brian Dennehy memorabilia. What?? WHAT??
11. What did you get really excited about?
Blogging!!! That and Brian Dennehy signing to do "Inherit The Wind" on Broadway in 2007!!
Okay, it is that darned Weird things list...now that the cat is outta the bag, er, so to speak, well...I AM excited about it. We are planning to go this Spring. Fingers crossed.
But really and truly, I am excited about blogging! I love doing mine and visiting all of you. It has been great fun, wonderful therapy and a pure joy.
12. Compared to this time last year, are you, a) happier or sadder, b) thinner or heavier, c) richer or poorer?
Happier since Bill being away is coming to an end.
Heavier...no, actually, I am down a few pounds from where I was at this time last year.
Richer...in all the things that really matter....love and friendship. Self respect and peace of mind.
13. What was your favorite TV show?
I still watch Law and Order when I can...all of them! I watch a lot of HGTV and the Food Channel....Paula Deen particularly.
I watch a lot of BBC America too....I am a HUGE fan of "As Time Goes By" and watch each and every re run when ever I have the chance. A classy and dear show featuring the classy and
ethereal Dame Judi Dench.
14. What was the best book you read?
Junie B. Jones anything to Grace (they are pretty funny books!), The Little House In The Big Woods (which gets a re read every year; this year I read it to Grace for the first time), Marley and Me and An Affair With A House.
15. Is there someone or something you missed this past year?
Bill's every day presence...even the socks on the floor, the wet towel on the bed and him never knowing where his car keys are! Oh, that and I missed my head being on straight all too often...and my mind. I lost it a few times.
16. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I was *gulp* 50. My friends all had little galas for me...: ) And Bill took all of us to St.
Louis to see our buddies Kate and Ginny AND stay at a *to die for*
Bed & Breakfast and to eat at one of
our favorite Italian places on the planet and to see the Broadway company of "Spamalot". I think that is enough *ands* for one answer Sue.
17. What kept you sane?
My family, wait a mo...did you say sane or INsane? Naw...really, my family, my friends, my blog buddies who are just the BEST, my pets, prayer, hot tea, M & Ms and Coca Cola, movies, reading and blogging!
19. If you could do one thing this year and not get chastised by or for it, what would you do?
Run off to Ireland with Brian Dennehy for a month....aw...okay, like THAT is ever gonna happen. Besides, HIS wife and MY husband probably won't allow it. Neither would his agent, his attorney, his kids, his gardener, his barber, his mechanic, his garbage collector....
And you know what? I really do like Bill a wee bit too much....I think he is sooooo cute but just don't tell him okay? He will get all big headed and obnoxious about it....
20. If you could meet one blogger in 2007, who would you want to meet?
I could never narrow it down to one. All of you have become such a part of me....I think the world of each and every one of you. Special people, dear and inspiring and talented and funny and caring and creative. I would love to meet ALL of you some day soon....
Okay, sooooo, who's next??
Hugs,
Suzie Q
5 Weird Things About Sue
I have been tagged by dear Cindy on her lovely blog! I can't sleep anyhoo so why not give it a go!
Boy, I am sure all of you are thinking, "How could Sue find 5 things that are weird about herself? She is so sane and, well, as normal as All American apple pie!" No? That's NOT what you are saying? Oh, my hearing t'ain't what it used to be....yeah. What you actually said was, "How can Sue possibly narrow it down to *5* things about herself that are weird? That would be an insurmountable task!" Okay, thanks a lot. Still, I think I am up to this effort...so, let's see. What 5 odd things about myself can I discuss? Hmmm....no. Not that. Well....not that either. Or that. Maybe that? Noooo....okay. I think I have it....
1. I am in love with Brian Dennehy. There, I said it out loud. I am. I have been for 30 years. Really. Bill knows all about it and is quite okay with it. Just ask him. I guess he knows it is really HIM, Bill, that I love but still....
I have followed Brian's life and career, both the upsidaisies AND the downsydoodles of it all, for so long that I could write the biography without doing any further research. I know I am goofy and weird about it but there it is. You should see my collection of memorabilia sometime....when you have a week or two.
2. I can not sleep in total darkness. I am terribly uncomfortable if there is not a light on, of some sort, somewhere. Total darkness gives me a major case of the willies. And no, not the *willies* as in *Willy* Loman, a character Brian Dennehy played to Tony Award winning perfection on Broadway. Yeah, yeah....enough with the Dennehy shtick Sue.
3. I talk to inanimate objects. Yep. Chairs, refrigerators, lamps, dishes, you name it. My family accepts this as just one of my terribly attractive little quirks. Huh? You heard them say what? NOT so attractive? Really gosh darned cute? No? Okaaaaayyyy but I did NOT say those inanimate objects talked back did I? At least, not yet....soooo....let's move on to #4.
4. I carry on deliciously long and soul barring conversations with animals. I can't do that with those inanimate objects you know, that would be just plain silly. But with animals....well....it just makes sense. They listen. Okay, not always but usually. I have worked out many a problem or come to many a big decision by talking it over with an animal. And no, I am NOT referring to Brian Dennehy thank you very much.
5. I watch films and movies as much for the decorating ideas as for the plot!
I can tell you all about the houses and cottages and apartments and, well, you get the idea, in which movie characters live. It's true. I am always intensely scanning the sets and looking at the furniture, window treatments, table top accessories....I even check out the names of the set decorators in the credits! Well, unless it is a Brian Dennehy movie....then I look at something else entirely.
So, now that you know these 5 weird (But oddly
engrossing and sweetly coquettish) things
about me, will you still come for visits? I sure hope so!
Hugs,
Suzie Q
Morning Musings
Good mornin' all....the sun is finally out and it looks glorious!
It has been so dreary of late. What is it about the sunshine that makes you want to go out and accomplish something wonderful in the world? Unfortunately, the only trails I will blaze today will be those of housework & laundry (Uh huh. I know, boring and predictable) but I will take Kip for a nice walk. Bill will be home on Saturday! I am thrilled. The powers that be are letting him work via laptop and cell phone on Monday-Wednesday so he is driving home tomorrow! A week long visit.... Bill was part of a show on NPR last night (see post below) and had such a great time. It was recorded live and will be aired Sunday on WYSO. And Dan got a raise at work....yippee! He works so hard and devotes many long hours to the company. And yes, I am proud of him. Yesterday I had lunch with one of my dearest friends, MLB. She always knows how to perk me up and bring a smile to my face. I had been bothered by something that happened a week ago but she was able to help me put it all in perspective. Friendship is a warm & wonderful thing ain't it? On Wednesday, I met another special friend, TY, for lunch (Am I turning into one of those ladies who lunch? Egads!). We had been unable to arrange such a meeting earlier so she treated me for my 50th birthday. I really enjoy time spent with her. She gifted me with some sweet angel trinkets....she is a big collector of the winged creatures. This reminds me that friends are truly angels in our lives. I am blessed beyond measure by the women (and men) in my life. Okay, I promise not to get too sappy here! My mother bought a new car this week. New for her...it is a used Avalon, silver and just right for her. She wanted to get her Ohio drivers licence so off we went to the bureau. She aced the exam, as I knew she would. Not so for the 2 16 year old would be drivers on either side of her. I felt so badly for them....I remember those days. Yes I do! Really! Well, it is hazy but... A group of wonderful friends from my high school alma mater (NO age cracks now!) are meeting for dinner on Monday evening. I missed the last get together but hope to make this one. Such a fun, loving and warm group. I am blessed to know them all. Grace and I will be watching my nephew Brady tonight and tomorrow. My brother and sis in law are heading up to Columbus for the big game. My cousin C.D. will be driving up from near Knoxville to join them. They have had their tickets for ages and will enjoy very good seats this year. I think it is a sure bet that Jim will come home hoarse from yelling. Believe me. You can bet your life on that. My good buddy T.H. is having my Mom and us over for homemade soup, a delicious salad and the game. I owe her one this week....can you believe I actually stood her up yesterday evening! What kind of friend am I? She thinks it is funny but I do not. It has been a hectic week and I am definitely sleep deprived but that is NO excuse. Dear T., I owe ya! This is a PUBLIC apology. I am so stupid. D'uh! I think it will be a risotto kind of night. I may actually get The Booman (my nephew) to eat it. That is, if Grace will share! Okay, the last few drops of coffee in my cup (I DO actually drink it from time to time! Dan had brewed a pot this morning and it just smelled so good)) are cold and I need to get to work. I hope your day is a good one. Have a safe and happy weekend.
GO BUCKS!! BEAT BLUE!! Or words to that effect.
Another List
IF YOU COULD GO SOMEWHERE YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
Australia...the land that gave us Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. *sigh*
WHAT WAS THE BEST TRIP YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN?
My first trip to Europe....to England. I was so excited about everything! I even wanted to hug the poor lady that checked my passport at Heathrow. Silly, bloody American that I am.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE?
Uh huh. "Silverado".
DO YOU THINK LIFE IS HARDER OR EASIER FOR CHILDREN THAN IT WAS WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG?
Definitely more difficult. Life is more complicated now, more stressful for most families, even the children. Too fast paced. Priorities are so warped. It is all about acquiring material possessions and making the big bang at work. Personal lives have suffered, family life has suffered. Oh gee, am I waxing nostalgic now? So life was never quite as neatly packaged as it was on "Father Knows Best" but heck, it was less worrisome and filled with more innocent delights for children. But then, that is just my opinion and we all know about opinions....
HAS LIFE MADE YOU MORE HOPEFUL OR CYNICAL?
I remain the quintessential optimist. I always believe that things will improve, people are basically good and that the Red Sox will go to the World Series. Oh wait....
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE BIGGEST WORLD EVENTS IN YOUR LIFETIME?
Vietnam. The assassination of JFK, MLK and Robert Kennedy. The Space Race. The Cincinnati Bengals going to the The Super Bowl. AW come on....really!
WHAT ARE YOUR MOST BELOVED PERSONAL ITEMS?
My photo albums. Believe me when I say I have a lot of 'em. A LOT. An embarrassingly huge number of them.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR LIFE?
My children and my marriage. Those 2 things and my ability to crack open an egg using just one hand.
JOHN WAYNE OR CARY GRANT?
Cary Grant definitely. Hands down. Hands up.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE IT TO SAY ON YOUR TOMBSTONE?
She was loved. She was good at heart. She will be missed.
Or, perhaps, "Never cheated at cards or drove doughnuts in yards and passed her SATs. She patted dogs, once went for a jog and covered her mouth when she sneezed.". Kinda says it all doesn't it? *sniffle*
