What Did You Get For Christmas?

Gee I hope you got everything from Santa that you wanted!
I sure did...would you like to stay awhile and play?
Let's see now...

I got the super duper new Barbie Dream House!

Don't you just love the new furniture styles?

And Santa made sure I got the newest Barbie! Just look at her wigs!

My Barbie was lonely so I asked Santa for some friends...first there is her girlfriend Midge...

..and the handsome Ken to take Barbie on lots of groovy dates to the soda shop!

And I got a dolll that kisses! SMACK!

Gosh but I love my Chatty Cathy! Pull her string and she talks! How cool is that!

And I got the Penny Brite I had been begging for! Her legs really bend! Go one! Try it!

Oh look! Calamity Jiddle from the Liddle Kiddles collection!

And Baby Biddle too!

I'm glad I got the clubhouse for them to stay in so we don't lose any of the teensy stuff...

And what would Christmas be without some bubble bath? I sure love my Soaky toys and now I have Top Cat for my collection too!

I am so excited to play a game of Gidget...

...and see who my Mystery Date will be!

Or do you want to make one of these?

Then I can show you a movie! Yogi or Quickdraw first?

And we can draw with my new Etch A Sketch!

Or play dominoes...

...or Old Maid...

...or Cootie!

Colorforms are so cool! I really wanted this Mary Poppins one...

...and Miss Cookie's too! It has lots of little pieces so be careful!

I can't wait to try my new Silly Putty on the Sunday newspaper comic pages!

And I got some groovy new comics...

...and 16 Magazines! I need to catch up with all the news! Who do you like better, The Cowsills or The Monkees?

Can't forget the new rings I got! Rat Fink is sooooo groovy! Here, you can have one of them...

I am sure you are green with envy at all these cool things Santa brought
me but I had been such a good girl! And gee whiz! I WILL share them all with you!
*wink*

Now let's go play...

Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

(Who actually DID have all of these toys waaay back when...not necessarily all at the same time but still...)

Oh the memories! I had Midge in first grade, took her to school and someone stole her! I was heartbroken. I had Chatty Cathy with black hair, the baby liddle kiddle, and Penny Brite. I also had the etch a sketch, cootie game, Mr. Potato Head and Silly putty. No idea where any of those things are now, probably the dump! Boohoo!

Oh I feel like I've just stepped back in time! You and I must be about the same age. I had a Chatty Cathy and loved her totally. Captain Kangaroo! I loved him. :) Thanks for the memories.

OH MY GOSH! Did this bring back memories!!! I had that same Colorforms set! Yikes. And my Barbie was one of the originals, blonde ponytail and black & white stiped bathing suit.

I remember Mystery Date, too -- so funny! AND I am even old enough to remember when Mr Potato Head required you to go and beg a real POTATO from your Mom!

I never had a Chatty Cathy, though -- I think my mom thought I was chatty enough, but Arlene who lived next door had one.

Ah ... memories. This was GREAT!

OMG, how I love this post! I have a blond barbie with that same striped bathing suit in one of my closets here. And oh, how much I loved the Monkees in junior HS. I am really dating myself here. I had most of those items in your post, except the Penny Brite which I wanted so much. I've never gotten over that.

What memories! I had an original Barbie and the Barbie with wigs, Ken, Chatty Cathy and my brother had GI Joe.

Capatain Kangaroo was my favorite show. Remember Mr Green Jeans?

We had real toys back then, not cell phones, Ipods, Wiis or DSi. That was when kids actually played outside....in the olden days!

I feel like I relived my childhood in that post! I didn't have all those groovy toys, but they sure brought back memories. I Did have that 16 magazine! I bought every issue I believe. I had a serious crush on Barry Cowsill. Loved the Monkees too though. Thanks for the memories. Have a great day! Twyla

We are so of the same generation! I had Chatty Baby and I can still remember most of her sayings and the inflection she used. My sister's got a defect in the voicebox and we used to scare ourselves at night in bed when we made her talk/growl. Had Mystery Date, was in 16 Magazine once, oh, those were the days!

How fun! I remember Mystery Date! And Etch-a-sketch...I could draw a pretty good house with a chimney on that!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Hugs,
Penny

You were so lucky! Barby wasn't around when I was a little girl. You certainly were blessed, big time!

Oh! Great memories -- but where is the Barbie Doll board game? I used to play that with my dad (Ken -- really!) all the time!

We had a Etch a Sketch at home, I read 16 Magazine religiously, and played Gidget with my friends. That was just yesterday, wasn't it?

I love this vintage post. I remember some of the items, but not most of them. I would definitely say that I prefer The Monkees for two reasons: 1) I never heard of the other group and 2) I did love The Monkees. Thanks for the fun memories.

This was too funny...I used to love to play with Colorforms and I was in the post office today and actually saw a man in a "RatFink"
tee shirt....now how random is that...Have a great weekend!

How funny - I had so many of those toys! What memories. I had a Tiny Tears too which would wet in her diaper when you fed her water from her bottle. (She also leaked out the joints in her arms and legs!) Have a lovely weekend!

Hi there! Your sunset and black and white winter photos are spectacular! Never concern yourself with what others may say in a negative way .... they really don't matter in the big scheme of things.

Well it's no wonder I didn't get anything I wanted for Christmas, you got it all! hehe Oh boy, those toys and games sure brought back a lot of memories. You know that Give a Show Projector? They had the exact same one at the auction last Sunday and it went for only $5!! I could have kicked myself for not buying it, I know I could have sold it for much more on eBay. I love it that you can still buy an Etch a Sketch today, I had one and my boys had one...I'll have to buy one for Lily when she's old enough:-) xoxo
