Puttin' On My Travelin' Shoes...

I was able to get away twice this month and had such a great time!
The second week of April found me in The Smoky Mountains of
East Tennessee. One of my dearest friends, Barb, was having
a birthday so my long time buddy Terri and Barb's sister
Frederica and I headed South!

We ate well (Barb is a fantastic cook!), saw a fun and energetic
 music show in Pigeon Forge,
spent lots of time in the mountains, especially in Cades Cove,
and had such a sweet time. Lots of laughter,
and smiles and oh! We also met new friends like this adorable fella!

And he brought his friends to meet us too!

The trees were blooming...

...the dogwoods were just lovely.

Isn't this pretty? Not much beats the sound of rushing water for
complete relaxation!

The deer were there to meet us in Cades Cove!

Oh how I love the Smoky Mountains...I have Tennessee blood flowing in my veins
(My Father was born and raised in East Tennessee) and this place is so special to me.

The next week Bill and I went with Grace, her BFF Kelly and Kelly's Mom
 Julie to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

This was the beautiful farm home we stayed in during
our Pennsylvania getaway! The farm house was built in the early 1800s
and the little stone house in the middle 1700s.

Such a peaceful place...farm fresh eggs each morning too!
The girls loved playing with the goats,
chickens & rabbits!

This is Lucy and Ethel, the farm's pet goats.
We all enjoyed them and their silly antics!

You can tell by the smiles how much fun they were!
I could have taken them both home...hmm...I wonder if
Winston and our kitties would have approved?

Gathering the eggs...

The simple joys are always the best!

The girls loved Hershey. Of course we toured Chocolate World where
we made our own candy bars and
had the best time!

They got to design & make their own candy bar yes,
but also the wrapper and name!

Gettysburg is one of my favorite places to tour.
Bill and I have been here many times but it was
Grace, Kelly and Julie's first visit.

Hallowed grounds...
I am such a history geek
(My Mother was a History Major at OSU after all!)
but Bill is *very* knowledgeable about the Civil War.
It is a joy to listen to him talk as
we walk and ride through the battlefields.

Julie met a new friend...

Overlooking the home & farm of  President Dwight Eisenhower...another
wonderful place to tour if you visit the area.
The trees were in full bloom!

Lititz, PA is a gorgeous small town filled with history
and beautiful old homes. Here you will find the
venerable Wilbur Chocolate & Candy Factory and...

the Sturgis Pretzel Bakery! Both are must see and dos!

I try to be unobtrusive to the Amish when we are in the area but
still take a few photos...

Such beautiful farms...

I have a bit of a thing for clothes flapping in the breeze...

Thank you for sharing my little adventures with me.
Spring has been such fun this year!

I had such fun on my get away trips but now it's home to do the weeding and mulching
this week..hoping each one of you is well an finding plenty to smile about!

Hugs,
