Hello dear friends. Happy Friday! The sun is shining and it is so warm outside. To paraphrase our dear Manuela's recent comment, "Spring may well be over here already!" Here too I am afraid! It is almost hot outside in the sun! I have begun the rather arduous task of de-Wintering the backyard garden and my poor joints and back feel every hour of it. Hmm...do you feel sorry for me yet? No? Aw gee...okay. I am not the most deliriously happy gardener by nature but I like it to look lovely and to be able to be IN it so, work on it is necessary! Spring has been here such a short time but those pesky weeds and grasses- that grow where we do not wish them to- have been hard at work making MY life miserable! Feel sorry for me yet? Still no?
I do so wish to get planting soon. Some day lilies, more phlox, black eyed Susie Qs and some cone flowers.
I am so sorry that I have been a terrible blogging friend and blog *poster* this week. My nephew has needed me, there were oh so many things to be done here and we had out of town company!
In short, life got busy!
One precious moment...I received a most wonderful package from our lovely Mary at Dear Little Red House. Oh Mary! I just love it all so much. I will post photos soon. Mary is one of the best blog writers and photographers and please! If you have yet to stop by the Little Red House, do so soon! It is a pleasure!
I will be visiting you all this weekend and into next week. I keep you in my thoughts, prayers and heart always. Enjoy your weekend and may it be a sweet one for you all.

It is a beautiful day here in Lancaster County today as well. I have spent some time outside with the electric trimmers. If we don't keep these bushes under control, I fear they will take over!

Sounds like you're doing the same kind of things I've been doing - getting the yard and lawn back in order after the long, hard winter. We're starting to have some beautiful spring days here as well. Today we all went to the park (me, Lisa, and 3 little ones) and it was so nice to be able to be out in the nice weather!

ReplyDeleteI was just looking at all of the weeds in my little garden. We went to Lowes today and looked at plants. Last year at this time I had planted some tomato plants and darned if a majot freeze did happen! So this year, as much as I want to get into the garden and plant I am forcing myself to wait another week or two...

I'll feel sorry for you if you'll feel sorry for me! :-) Ugh! Those weeds and the onion grass are in all my beds! I don't spray but I'm seriously thinking about it this year cause the thought of having to pull all those weeds is just too much. I do think spring is just about over - it's been in the 80's and I've had the AC on already! It's going to be another hot summer (hopefully not hot AND dry).

I have to do the same thing and de-winterize our garden. I used to hate gardening when I was younger, but I've found that it's relaxing now. Watering the flowers especially :)

ReplyDeleteTruth be told I think my poor hubby is going to be frazzled soon- he is desperately losing the WAR of the Dandelions. They seem indestructible this year! Don't tell him, but J, who loves picking them, is secretly rejoicing over this ;)
I should have worked in the yard today. Instead I went for a long walk -- and saw a pair of Osprey, one with a fish in its claws.

I'd feel sorry for you, but my yard is covered with snow and hail and... ;) Actually, allergy sufferer that I am, this is not a bad few days. Still, I'd trade it for some "almost hot" weather. I hope your joints and muscles heal quickly and that your yard shapes up to be the sanctuary you want it to be for late spring and summer.

It is understood that we all have very full lives, and I applaud you for being there for your family when they need you, rather than blogging about it. I've been super busy recently, too. But we (bloggers) all understand--and those of us who don't get it aren't necessarily folks I want to visit.

Spring is indeed a wonderful, exciting time of year. My tulips have already folded here in East Texas, and other flowers have taken their place. Roses are blooming. Herbs and mint are fragrant. I guess I don't feel sorry for anyone who gets the joyous chance to spend time in a garden. It is heaven on earth.
