Ice Hot

Yes, yes...I have so much to tell you about our trip to Pittsburgh. I want to share so many pictures with you and let you know how wonderful our blog friend Meg truly, truly is. Uh huh...I want to, and I will...but first those suitcases had to be unpacked. The 14,987 loads of laundry needed to be washed, dried, folded and put away. The house needed a little fluff here and there, the refrigerator and pantry needed to be re-stocked and the dog and cats needed to be reassured that we would NOT be going away THIS weekend! (They were considering a violent coup if they saw the suitcases again)
Yes, all of that needed doin' so what to do, what to do....aha! Go out with the girls! Mom, Grace, my beautiful sis in law Lisa and I went out for a lovely evening. A great dinner at a new restaurant and then over to Wright State University's Nutter Center for a special, one-of-a-kind ice show/concert.
Grammy winning saxophonist Kenny G was the musical entertainment at this spectacular event.
The show was filmed live for NBC and will be aired
Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 4 p.m. & again on February 8, 10 - 11 a.m., February 10, 4 - 5 p.m. and February 13, 10 - 11 a.m. on The Style Network.
The show also featured Olympic Gold Medalist Peggy Fleming as host.
The cast this evening included:
EKATERINA GORDEEVA~Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist / JEFFREY BUTTLE~Current World Champion / SHAE-LYNN BOURNE~World Ice Dance Champion,
Ten-time Canadian Champion,
Four-time World Bronze Medalist and
World Silver Medalist/ CARYN KADAVY~World Champion Bronze Medalist/ IRINA SLUTSKAYA~Two time Olympic Medalist / VIKTOR PETRENKO~Olympic Gold Medalist/ RUDY GALINDO~U.S. National Champion / STEVEN COUSINS~Eight-time British National Champion/ JOZEF SABOVCIK~Olympic Bronze Medalist/
KEAUNA MCLAUGHLIN & ROCKNE BRUBACKER~Gold medalists at two Junior Grand Prix events,
US National Junior titlists and the current World Junior Champions.
It was such a sweet night...my 3 favorite ladies, good food and a terrific, ice hot experience. It doesn't get much better than that!
Love and Hugs,
Susie Q

Wow...I'd like to have seen them. I followed them all for years. I've kind of gotten out of it now. Regarding your animals? I had a cat once that knew what the suitcase was. When it appeared on the bed she'd get in it and would not move. They absolutely know.

Big, big fan of the ice shows. Only been on it once myself though. :)

Sounds like such a special time and the pictures are amazing. You should be a reporter somewhere, you know? Your posts are so entertaining and spectacular. xxoo

What a fun time! And what a bunch of pretty ladies to accompany you!
I've never been to an ice show and I'd love to one day.

Becky
PS. My cat once peed on my suitcase just for spite. We had to throw it out.

Great post and photos. We saw an ice show with Scott Hamilton and others in Sacramento a about almost 3 years ago. We have also been to a few Disney on Ice shows too. I will have to save the dates for the February shows. Write them on my calendar maybe, so I can remember to see them.

What fun! I always enjoy it when you have a three-generational outing. That was a great line-up. I just know it was a great night out!! Sally

What a a wonderful evening that must have been! I love watching figure skating. I have only seen it on TV and not in person...that would be so much fun!

I keep thinking about getting a puppy....but then I think about how sad it would be to leave him....They get so sad looking when you haul out the suit cases, don't they?

Ashley is an ice skater. I have always been jealous of her grace on the ice. Love ice shows, too!

Sounds like a wonderful night out! I'll try to catch the show when it's shown on TV!
My friend Cindy has 4 cats - and they knew the suitcases SO well, that one time, one of them got in the suitcase when it was halfway packed, and went pee-pee on the clothes! My dogs don't do anything that drastic, but they do act differently now (more anxious or excitable) if they see them come out!

Ooooh how lucky you were to have gone to see this extravaganza!!! I use to faithfully watch every skating event on tv for years, not so much now but I still enjoy it. I remember going to see the Ice Follies at our arena when I was a young teen and oh my, how I dreamed of being an ice skater!! xoxo
